So Cal Select to So Cal on Blackout Day?

I am considering upgrading from So Cal Select to So Cal, but on a Blackout Day. It's a black out day for the one I'm upgrading to (the full So Cal pass).

Should I therefore get a blackout day ticket $50, and then pay the extra $5 before I go home, to upgrade to So Cal.

Or would they let me upgrade from So Cal Select to So Cal at the ticket booth and give me a blackout exemption paper?

Can they print upgraded passes right at the ticket booth?

We recently renewed my husband's AP on a blackout day. We went to do so at the Guest Relations booth outside the Park. It was closed. We were told to go to any ticket booth. They handled his renewal and upgrade there. The cast member then asked if we had planned on going into the Park that day. We asked what it would cost since it was a blackout day. She said since he renewed on that day, she could issue a blackout exemption ticket for DH. He ended up with a PH ticket for the day, for free.
