I bought the southern california passes with a travel package from travelocity. After reading the redemption process am I reading it correctly that I HAVE to go to DL first????? OR can I just go to the gate at DL, pick up the vouchers, and use them in any order?:confused3 We are going to Seaworld first.
Thanks!

We did the SoCal pass in October. We didn't have to do DL first. I was confused at first (we had our passes mailed to us, though.) I called Disney just to be sure and they told me it didn't matter - as long as they were used within 7 days.

I think you'll want to read on the fine print of the tickets/ vouchers once you receive them. I'm guessing you are talking about the city pass, not the S. CA tickets? I know that some of them do require you to go one place before the others, but the same ones bought from a different vendor don't require it. Its really odd.

Yes, it is the city pass that gives you a 3 day hopper, san diego zoo, seaworld and universal admissions. On the fine print it said something about going to DL . :confused3 unfortunately our first park is seaworld. We will be in aneheim so we can stop by the gates and pick up the vouchers but I didn't want to go to DL first.
Can I just pick them up or do I HAVE to go into DL??
Anyone else have any experience with these?:wizard:

When are you going?
I have alot of research on these DIS boards:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: & the majority of people say it doesn't matter what is first. But, I have also heard that you have to do DL first....soo.....I really don't know.:confused3 :confused3
But, any how - we are planning on going in December, can you let me know for sure what the "REAL" story is?
houch126@sbcglobal.net or send me a private message or even just a new thread saying: "the real story w/City Pass". We would all really appreciate the real story on it.
Thanks!:banana: :banana: :banana:

Okay, I dug out our City Pass booklet. We booked our vacation through the Disneyland website, including the SoCal City Pass. (The DL part anyway.)

We wanted to do San Diego first, though, so we also booked a hotel room in SD for the days prior to going to DL (used expedia for that part.)

Our trip (including SD and DL was October 14 - 21st, 2006. When we had the City Pass mailed to us, I noticed that the start date stamped on the booklet stated "Valid for 14 days beginning Oct 19, 2006" (This was to be our first day in DL.) I panicked. We had reservations already in SD and I wanted to be sure that we would be able to go to Sea World and the Zoo prior to the 19th, so I called. The woman I talked to told me not to worry, that I would be able to use the City Pass before we went to DL, as long as we used the passes within the time requirement (earlier I thought 7 days, but on the booklet it says 14 days.)

So, long story short - we used our City Passes to go to the Zoo on the 17th and Sea World on the 18th, then began our DL stay on the 19th. To be honest, neither the zoo nor sea world even looked at the date stamped on the cover of the booklet.

Hope this helps. Have fun!

When I contacted travelocity, their response was to go to DIsneyland resort to pick up booklets. I think I just have to go to gate... Iwill know more next Friday!!!!!!!! (4/6)

Just wanted to let you know I did in fact have to go to DL first and pick up the vouchers there. (will call window) I did not have to go inside the park however. Read the small print as to where you have to pick up these passes.

Did you have to go to DL to get the DL portion of the passes, or you couldn't even get the Zoo, Universal & SeaWorld passes w/out going to DL 1st.

We planned on flying into San Diego, doing those 2 and then going up to Anahem for the Universal & DL parks. If thats the case we can't do that.:sad2:

check your passes...mine said I had to pick up vouchers at DL. SInce our first park was going to be seaworld I was a little upset. NOT all passes have to picked up at a certain place. BUT for ex. if you bought your so cal passes from universal i read that would have to be your first stop. I bought ours through travelocity and didn't read the fine print which said to pick up at DL resort. Fortunately we stayed in anaheim the first night.....
At DL I got the DL hoppers AND The vouchers for the other 3 parks which was a must do.
Where did you buy your passes? Can you check with your agent or read the fine print to see where you can redeem the printed voucher?

Haven't bought them yet, thats why I want to find out before I do. I just really started to get worried that our plan wouldn't work. I had intended on getting them through Costco (I have read on this site that you don't have to be a member to buy from them). Anyone know about buying through Costco where you have to start?????

There seems to be a difference between a Citypass Voucher and Citypass Tickets. The costco ones are redeemable in any order based on the wording on the website;

The Southern California CityPass® gets you six days of admission to the area’s most popular attractions – all at one price! CityPass® delivers a savings of over 25% and 14 days to take it all in. All you have to do is simply present your booklet at each attraction, the agent will exchange your coupon with a ticket.

On the Citypass website it does clarify the issue;

If I purchased a voucher for CityPass how do I redeem it for my actual CityPass?

We have affiliates that sell the CityPass using a voucher program. If you purchase through one of our affiliates you'll print out a voucher that you'll redeem for a CityPass. Simply present that voucher at the main ticket window of the first attraction you decide to visit. (Important note, Southern California CityPass vouchers have to be redeemed at a specific attraction, depending on who you purchase your voucher through. If you plan on starting your vacation in San Diego make sure not to purchase a voucher that must be redeemed in Anaheim.)

Has anyone had any problems with this in that a park wouldn't accept the "voucher" until it was redeemed for tickets at another location?

We had a print out with a code bar on top....that piece of paper had to be taken to DL will call window (per our instructions) first and we were then given a booklet with tickets to SW, Zoo, and Universal along with DL hoppers. Once I had all the tickets I could use them in any order I wanted within I believe 14 days. It is the matter of GETTING that booklet!

I bought the SC city pass from Australia, so I had a voucher for it. When i checked into the DLH, they took the voucher, and gave me the 3 day park hoppers, and another ticket that I had to take to City Hall (inside the park) to get the actual booklet. City Hall removed the Disney ticket, stamped the start date on the booklet, and then gave them to me. We were told early on that first use had to be at Disneyland, so we planned the trip around that. Nobody told me I could pick them up at Will Call, but I didn't ask, either. If you want to start at San Diego, maybe if you get your ticket through one of the San Diego hotels or Seaworld? Either way, we loved our trip (just got back to Australia yesterday) and thought the City Pass was great value.
