So Cal Annual Pass

As a former (and always native Californian), would I be able to purchase a So Cal annual pass even though I no longer live in one of the zip codes. I have many friends & relatives that live in the
OC area and we visit very often. I purchased one about three years ago and the CM told us then that it did not matter if you lived in California, that it was just the name of the pass. I'm wondering if they are a little more strict these days. Or would my aunt who lives in the right area be able to purchase one for me?

In the past anyone has been able to purchase a So Cal AP. But I have heard (rumors) that they are tightening down on non So Cal'ers purchasing the passes.

So the only way to know for sure is to try.

don't try it, you'll be embarassed. they are very, very strict on the two Southern CA passes. Just buy the Deluxe pass.

Could a person that lives in orange county buy it as a gift for someone from out of state ?

No they would only be able to buy a voucher. Then you would have to show your ID to get the actual pass.

you have to show your ID to get the voucher...once you get the voucher, you will not have to show ANY ID again. When you go to the AP processing center in DL, you only need to give them the voucher and they will make your pass with your name and picture on it.

I am not so sure about this. They will need your ID for name and address purposes. The voucher won't have this information, as far as I know.

when we got ours in March, they asked for ID when we got our voucher...not at the processing center. This may have changed, but that was our experience.

that interesting. so they just asked for your mailing address etc?

Honestly I can not remember if I had to show my ID or not when I upgraded our passes (it was over a year ago). But I thought that had asked to see id. So of course vouchers may work different then the upgrade.
