So Bummed-Windshield Crack

I came out of my practice this afternoon to a huge crack in my windshield. It's about as long as my forearm, and starts on the edge on the drivers side and kind of curves upwards.

It was certainly not there when I parked, and there weren't any marks or anything else, so I don't know if something fell on it (I was parked under a tree, so maybe)

It was at a high school, so of course I'm always nervous it might be some kid being a punk, but again, no other marks or anything. Argh! The car is not even a year old, and I've already been hit in a parking lot, now this. I'm so annoyed!

I feel your pain. This just happened a month ago to my husband's brand new truck - it was only one week old!!!

A rock flew up and cracked his. Sometimes there is a little nick in the windshield and the hot sun causes it to crack and spread.

Your insurance should cover the replacement, less the deductible - ours was $100.00 (the deductible).

Don't worry about it! As far as I know, all insurance companies pay to have it fixed and wave the deductible. Windshields get special treatment. You don't know...a rock may have bounced up while your were driving down the highway (happened to me 2 weeks ago) and put a small crack in it, which expanded because of the heat. Call your insurance company and put in a claim, it will all turn out fine.

edit: Wow, Pam, who do you use for insurance? I've had a number of insurance companies and never had to pay the deductible for a windshield crack.
