So at the Concierge Level....

Morning to all!! :wave:

So if you stay at the Concierge Level at any given resort, what EXACTLY will the Concierge CM do for you?

I know there is drink and food offered throughout the day but what type of services do the planners or Concierge do?

Your planner will make your PS arrangements, book the speciality cruises, help you plan surprises to have in the room and generally help you with any of your requests. I have always had wonderful planners for my trips. One year our planner even went out on her own time to purchase Pepsi products to stock our rfer for my son and his wife. He is a manager with Pepsi, so only will drink those products. They have made purchases for me to have for family and friends in the room. The CMs that actually work on th CL floor at the BW are the best!!!! They help rearrange any PS you have, help schedule new ones, schedule spa treatments, help with any general questions you have, etc. These CMs far exceeded our expectations and they are why we return to the bW at least twice a year.
 
The planners will handle all you PSs and other reservations and special requests before your arrival. You can also make your room request to them and they will see that it gets accomodated (if possible). The planners also help with issues that come up during your stay (changing PSs, getting tickets to a show, etc.). They also help with simple hotel oriented requests (for example, if the lounge is closed, you can ask them to get you a pop; if you have an issue with your room, you can ask them to help you with it, etc.).
 
I would have them do pillow gifts for my daughter... (ie) they would shop for cute little things to have housekeeping leave on her pillow at turndown...

Help with little problems like.. when we stayed at AKL Concierge, one night we were supposed to go to dinner at Spoodles, but we stayed to long at the pool and decided just to skip it and have dinner at Boma... we went down to the restaurant at 5pm there were crowds milling around and I asked the hostess if we could in and she said "not until 8:30pm"

We went up to the concierge lounge for a drink and mentioned we had trouble getting into busy Boma, the concierge called down and they took our PS for 5:30om, we walked down - gave our name and they took up past everyone and straight to a table with no waiting!
 

The cm's at the polynesian are great. They gave both of my daughters a small stuffed animal. When we checked in, they asked if they could do anything for us, I mentioned that we were trying to get into the Cinderella castle character breakfast. The CM was able to get us a reservation for us during our stay. Concierge reservations get priority. When we were there in 2000 the concierges sat behind 2 large desks and you really felt welcome to sit down and ask them anything.

I wasn't too happy with the concierges at the Wilderness Lodge. First you didn't feel as welcomed as you did at the polynesian. The wilderness lodge concierge stands at a podium, there is no place for guests to really sit down and talk with the CM. Our concierges at the WL were on the phone constantly so it was hard to approach them. I had requested a room w/bunk beds which we did not receive. I had also called the hotel a couple of weeks before our stay to inquire about something special that i could do for my husband for his birthday. The CM suggested a photo card of mickey signed by mickey and balloons. I told the CM to go ahead and do that. The CM said that she would note the reservation and everything would be all set. On my DH's birthday it was 9pm and still no balloons or card from mickey was found in the room. I went down to the concierge and inquired. The male CM said that he saw the notation in the reservation but didn't know why it wasn't taken care of. He said that he would look into it. At 9:45 pm that night there was a knock on our door the CM brought a card from mickey and that was it. No balloons and no apology or anything special to make up for it.

The Beach Club Concierges are very nice and approachable. They have the 2 large desk setup as well. We didn't have any special requests or needs from them. But they were very courteous and helpful with maps and things.

The staff at the BWI concierge is fantastic. They have always been able to plan anything we wanted.

The Poly staff has planned ps's for us, a segway tour and they will order the cinderella slipper and mini wedding cake for our anniversary dinner.
 
I'll tell you what the concierge staff did for us at the GF....not much!

Seriously, we weren't impressed. We loved the food offerings (and that alone is worth it for us, with two little kids) but the services of the staff are NOT worth the money, in my humble opinion!

No one contacted us prior to our trip to make arrangements, I called and made all my own PS in advance. I did call concierge CM prior to trip, never got an answer, always a machine, and left several messages until they called back. I requested mouse ears for all of our kids--and after 2 follow up phone calls wasn't sure if they'd be there (no one could seem to locate the CM who took the order and my credit card number, despite my having her name!). When we checked in I wasn't even sure if they'd be there--but they were. And I could have called the hat shop directly and had this order sent to the hotel even if I weren't staying in a concierge suite.

But we were still unimpressed. If you're well organized, you can plan your own PS and all that...nothing is guaranteed as far as room requests anyway...and as far as priority check in, give me a break--we waited 2 hours for our suite (after 4pm, no less!)
 
We just stayed at BWI concierge and they were great!

You check right into your room, don't have to go thru the lobby check in procedure. They arranged all of my PS before we arrived and had no problem changing them around when our plans changed once we were there. They arranged all transportation for us, got great Cirque tickets.

I returned some paperwork and sent it via snail mail to them about 100 days out from our trip. They were able to get all of our PS that I requested. In the past I have been able to do this thru disney dining but it is time consuming and can be very frustrating!

I found the concierge level to be a good experience for us this trip, we had a large group and we were able to benefit from the food& beverage services and also the planning provided.
 
For our honeymoon and our upcoming frip, we are doing the GF concierge. It was a good option for us because we wanted to not worry about breakfast. Every day, we just had food from concierge. Also, they had diet coke at no cost and I have a huge addiction, so that was something else we didn't worry about. They even gave us extras that I kept in the room fridge. I contacted them as suggested by my travel agent about 180 days before.

They did make all our PSs. Here's how I was told it works. They take all your PSs before the 60/90/180 days and put them into their system. At 5:00 am (an hour before Dining opens) on the appropreate date (the 60/90/180) the system automatically does it... or they do. So they basically have a definate priority. While we were there, we made more and changed them a lot and it was fine. We had no problem.

One example is our Carriage ride. It got canceled because of the hurricane damage. They found that Port Orleans was still doing them and worked around all the things we already had scheduled.

This time, they will be doing a ton of PS, a ton of tours, spa treatments... etc. It will be good and save me some time and headakes.
