So with the release of the new smoking bans from the Disney resorts and DVC resorts will this also carry over to the Fort as this is considered a resort be it a campground or not it is considered a resort.

Good question.;) I am wondering if they may different guidelines as to the cabins..and another to the camping sites?:confused3

That was what I was thinking since the cabins would certainly be under the same regulations as the rest of the hotel type resorts but where does that leave the campsites I mean technically the patio/balcony would still hold true on a campsite so my guess it would be ok in your trailer/motorhome but not outside of it.

I guess this will also apply to Grills, no smoke, will that also eliminate the Campfire program.

I , for one, hope it applies to the entire campground, except for the designated area like it will for regular resorts. I would think it would even apply more there with it being such a fire hazard. Maybe they will just let smokers smoke in their RV, don't see how they can stop that. Hope they're not next to me, i smell it long before i even see it. Hope disney enforces this as they say. :thumbsup2

JMHO.

I enjoy a good post dinner cigar. Hopefully I won't be breaking the law as I continue to enjoy it.

Neither I or my husband are smokers, and I have not been in the camping loops at FW...only the cabins. However, we do have a travel trailer, and have been to plenty of other campgrounds. I've never had someone smoking at their own site be an issue for me. I would think the sites would have to be very close to one another, and more than one person smoking for it to be a real issue..at least for me anyway.

I made a call to Ft. Wilderness to ask that very question and the answer I got was it had not been determined yet.

The gentleman did say that smoking inside your own camper probably couldn't be stopped.

I also sent an email to WDW Guest relations asking the same question. I have not gotten a response yet.

I think that campsites will be the exception. If they said no smoking outdoors at your campsite then they would have to put a designated smoking area at/near almost every loop which would then concentrate the smoke in one area. So where do they put this area, near the comfort station (don't think so).

I'm also thinking outside on the decks of the cabins is a totally different animal also. These are self contained homes quite a distance away from each other. It is not the same as on the balcony of a hotel room 2 feet away from the next one.

I dont smoke and the only real reason i see for not being able to smoke at your site is for fear of burning Florida to the ground . Seems at most times of the year theres more danger of starting a fire throwing the butts on the ground than second smoke to your neighbors .:scared:

Reservations says its not offical yet, they do know that the foreign countries have a much larger smoking population than US. A lot of tourism dollars could be lost. I dont smoke so it does not bother me either way. The resorts will have outside smoking area so they say.

When we were in loop 400 a few weeks ago, someone in the next campsite was smoking because we could smell it. Lucky for us though it was a vanilla smelling pipe or cigar so it didn't bother me a bit. ;)

Hmmmmm Walt Disney would have a problem too since he was a smoker.
Jus sayin!

Just got back and the cigarette smoke was really getting to me -- I seem to be a magnet for it.:sad2:

My kids and I were enjoying rocking on the porch outside of Crockett's Tavern and a couple came and stood right next to us and both of them lit up. Another evening we were enjoying the sand beach near the deck area and a group of people sat down at the tables. I think every one of them was smoking and we were downwind. Even just riding in the golf cart it seemed that we smelled it a lot -- either behind someone who was smoking in their cart or passing a campsite/bus stop where there were smokers.

Oh, and two of the three times we went swimming we smelled cig. smoke while we were in the pool. I'm telling you... it follows me... I can't escape it!:scared1:

What I'm hoping they'll do for Ft. Wilderness is leave the actual campsites alone and make the designated smoking areas away from the public areas such as the porches of the restaurants and the trading posts and away from the pools.

Well I talked to member services for DVC today and asked if the non smoking would apply to the campsites as DVC members can use points to book a camp site also I was informed that yes it would but people could smoke in their campers/RV's. Not sure how accurate this is but I hope it happens for the campsites also just like we get in the resorts.

Finally....

We were just talking about how nice it would be to sit at the marina or the porch and enjoy the fort......:thumbsup2 smoking stinks....just ask your kids...

Next......

Private carts look out......

This bothers me too, if I see a smoker in a particular area, I make sure to avoid that area, but if I am sitting in a public area with my kids and someone walks up and either stands or sits by us and lights up, I find that really rude. That tells me that they have no regard or thought for whether that would bother us or if any of the kids have health issues.

Okay, off the soap box now.

My problem is that smoke in gereral bothers me. Even the oh so important for many campfire bothers me. I have had to go inside the RV and turn on the a/c to enjoy my campsite when at state parks. As far as personal smoking, I have no problem requiring it to be done inside the RV or at isolated designated areas.

From all the ads I see for used RVs, it seems that most people don't even smoke in their RV and they don't have pets either. And pigs have wings.

If you are seated in an area that permits smoking and someone walks up and lighs up, I would think that they are just doing what they are allowed to do in that area and in that case it is up to you to move. If they don't find that smoking could be bad for themselves then why should they be concerned about others.

Not really worth getting upset about, since Disney never enforces their rules anyway.
