So annoyed that they wait so long to release events/hours!

I would bet budget issues. The cuts due to Shanghai only just ended, and the repercussions probably are still being felt.
Just curious, but how do you know the cuts just ended? That would be nice if true, but I doubt they'll be adding anything back in that they cut or bringing back extras. Seems like if they are going to be having less cuts, a good time to start would be in time for the holiday season! But, instead we of course are short the osborne lights this year, and now we'll be short the MSEP, with nothing in it's place that we know of, and of course we are paying more this year. And, we may be short others things they have now such as SW fireworks, or any night shows at AK.
And I agree, they should know by now if they'll EMM or various other things they could share with us for Oct, and my trip in Nov. Not sure why they wanna keep things so secretive. Maybe so guess won't cancel, and it gets too late for them to do that. If crowds have been lower, why not work to get more folks in? Okay, not that I really want more crowds, lol! I'm just sayin'...

I've never heard of that before -- WDW scheduling and selling an event and then changing its dates. Since they are all pre-pay, do they just refund the money or offer the same deal on the day they've changed to?

Very odd. Sorry you've had to deal with them changing an already scheduled event. Even for a defender like me, that would be hard to swallow.

I read it on one of the usual suspect Disney park news sites, but I don't recall which one. The parks division is eating crow on both coasts because this year's high ticket and pass increases kept more people away over the summer than they anticipated, I also understand. I will note, try being a DL vet. Since most visitors are locals, you're lucky if you get 60 days of notice about events and changes. As a non-local DL vet, I've definitely been burned by that before. (Like, arriving the day before the mid-2000s big Space Mountain refurb, only to find out they closed it a day early, just because.)

Hmm that's interesting! Well I guess we'll see how that goes. Maybe they won't raise prices again after that didn't go as intended but I don't suppose that we'll get that lucky, lol.

Ah, that would really stink, lol. All the planning and thwarted by Disney! And still happens regularly. Bleh, lol

To be clear, Disney didn't change any event dates that people had already booked. The issue is that they scheduled the events on a certain day of the week through September, and now (within the last week, just about a month out from October) have opened up booking for October through December on a different day of the week. Like the OP, I assumed for planning purposes that if Disney extended the event past September, they would continue to hold the event on the same day of the week - unfortunately that didn't pan out.

This is going to be our last Disney vacation because of this exactly. I had planned out my kids DHS day with JTA perfectly and took a few weeks off from stalking all changes due to a very busy workload prior to coming down. I was gingerly sitting down enjoying my breakfast at AKL and BOOM I see on the screen special ticketed event was happening at DHS right as we are walking out the door. The JTA line was 30 min at RD and it was to rain all afternoon. My son had already been rained out on a previous trip!! The amount of disappointment and emotions I went through over it was just too much. We just came here from 5 lovely, stress free, unplanned days at Universal. Now that's the kind of vacation I deserve, not the misery Disney dips me in (for triple the price and no new attractions mind you). Yep, we are done. I just cannot stand the planning going awry stress.

We are there the first week of October. Neither SW fireworks or Rivers of Light/Tree Awakening are on the schedule. I left a few nights open in hopes of being able to do both.

But if they don't happen, we still have the night stuff at MK, Fantasmic and Illuminations. I guess I will forgive Disney if we don't get SW or RoL, but if we do, I'll be over the moon. :)

We are the same time frame including some of the end of September and I agree with you. Mainly I keep saying that all I want are LATER AK hours! 7:30 is not late enough. I feel like I start planning when I book (while at WDW with bounceback) and yet I am still scrambling at the last minute! LOL

This is exactly the reason I am only doing MVMCP on my next trip. I can't take the last minute changes to the hours and the rearranging of FPs and ADRs. The pre-trip stress is not worth the "magic". My next big trip will be to Universal only, where I don't need to make ADRS until I get there and I can use express on almost every ride.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If I do, it's the night before since I rarely know what park I'm going to the next day. Oh, by the way, I'm a woman.

I was just kiddin' around, never seen this meme? (usually followed us with a bro)

fastpass+ is to wdw-fanatic as benchpress is to musclehead.
