WHY WHY can he not empty his pockets.... I just found GUM in my washer....I do not chew gum so I know it is not mine..... OK thanks for letting me get that out

That's ok my DH left his cigerettes in his pockets and when I opened the dryer door all the tobacco fell out. Had to use the vacumm to get it out. He is forgiven though the pants were last worn to a funeral (the 2nd that week)

Hope the gum isn't too hard to get out of the washer

I don't mind when its money but gum is just awful! My son has done that a couple of times and I was unable to get it off some of the clothes. They made it to the dryer.:headache:

:rolleyes1 What cured my DH was when some screws he had left in his pocket messed up the washer & he had to work extra hours to replace it. Before that you never knew what you would find in there. Although at least he doesn't smoke or chew anything! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

what I really love is when you open the dryer to find an ink pen!!! :O funny how all that ink never finds it's way onto DH's clothes, just mine!!!

Sometimes it's good when husbands don't empty their pockets.

I've learned to always check DH's pockets. I once found $80.00 in his pockets! FINDER'S KEEPERS!! :cool1:

I have to say, yes, I've washed a pack of cigarettes back in the day and it was bad...but the WORST was when my hubby threw a load of clothes in the dryer and somehow threw a pull up that my daughter had worn the night before (clean) along with her pajamas...

OH MY GOSH what a freaking NIGHTMARE:scared1::scared1:

I went to switch the clothes over to the dryer and couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was...the whole thing was completely unrecognizable except these little white balls of crappy silicone like stuff melted.

HORRIBLE!

Ummmm... are you dating my DS? When he came home from college and put his dirty clothes in the wash basket, he neglected to take his pen out....It was his favorite until I washed it, but now it's bent!! I guess he may check his pockets from now on!

I have the same problem. I once washed a cell phone, i check pockets now. although I still think that they should empty their own pockets if they have thrown the clothes into the laundry. If I take the pants to be washed then it is up to me to empty them. JMO - despite what DH thinks:rolleyes1

Both my DS20 and my DH do this: gum, work badges, box cutters, you name it. The worst is tissues, what a mess that makes. And there is always loose change in the bottom of the washer, which I keep (my rule is if they don't empty their pockets, it becomes mine on laundry day).

DD keeps leaving Chapstick in her pockets. :headache:. The last time I saw it before the clothes were put into the dryer. The time before I didn't. I can't get the wax out of the clothes. I have tried just about everything. :headache:

Married 20 years. I always check the pockets, it just isn't worth the mess if I don't.

Zout has always worked for me with the chapstick. What a nightmare though.

How about a DH that continually leaves his headphones in his pockets after working out. The last time (which was about the 4th time in 2 months) I walked over to him & said, "They are still not wash & wear, but when you go to buy the new pair, you may want to ask about that." What the heck!!!!!

11 years...same thing here. I've given up asking him to check his pockets. It's just better that I do it myself.

Now, if I could get him over his terrible fear of hampers! I ask him at least once a week if he was attacked by a hamper as a child...because he seems to avoid them at all costs! :headache:

After I washed DH's cell phone and check book, he has learned to empty his pockets. I won't put his pants into the hamper anymore either. I figure if he is the one putting the clothes in the hamper, he is more likely to check his pockets. I haven't washed anything valuable since then.

I'd stop trying and let her wear them as is. Then she'll remember to take the stuff out of her pockets.
