You're no fun at all when disaster strikes :headache:

No one was home.

Cheyenne got home from school, called me but I was in a 'deadzone' so she call DH...and said "A tree fell on the kitchen and deck" DH Asked "Branches?" She responded, "No a tree, like TIMmmmmmmmmBEEEERRRRRRRR"
Thankfully I can laugh about it now...just a little.....really, this is my luck. I must have really peeved off a guy names Murphy in a past life.

A 200 foot or a 20 foot? 200 feet is awefully tall...most trees don't exceed 100 foot.

Sorry to hear this. We live in a drought zone and have lots of BIG trees in our yard, most of which are not known for being deeply rooted. I live in fear that one or more will come down here too.

 I hope you get things fixed real soon!

Yikes!! Sorry about that - I'm glad all are OK though and there's not TOO much damage.. We had 2 weepin willows fall on our house within an hour during hurricane Gloria back in the 80's. No fun!

The tree is (or was) taller than our 109yo farmhouse, which is 2 stories (plus a basement) and a walk up attic, and the house is set up a little on a hill from the tree.

The worrisome part is, there are 2 other trees, the same age and height that are still standing. The wind was so strong it uprooted the tree (which also damaged the fence).

We have $1000 deductible and the adjuster will hopefully be out tomorrow.

THIS was not what I had planned for this weekend!

OH gosh! I am really glad for you that no one was hurt.

My grandparents had a huge maple come down. It brushed the front of their house, damaging the porch a bit but no real serious damage. Years later my parents were on a US driving tour (and of course I was responsible for watching their home) when the exact same thing happened. A huge maple dropped and punched a hole in their roof. Those weren't good days either.

Hoping the insurance company doesn't give you a hard time!

Take care now and keep us posted.

Ouch!

I hope your kitchen is not exposed to the elements!

Good luck!

No the kitchen is still 'closed'

We need a new roof on the rest of the house and I would have loved a new bathroom.....if only the tree had fallen 5 feet over..then It would have gone through the roof and went into the bathroom...much more of a headache though, but the problem of a new roof would have been solved! See, a tree can't even fall on my hosue the right way! (got laugh sometime!)

Sorry to hear about yours! It has ben fun around here too. We have had 95 mile/ hr winds! I have no idea how those of you do it that live through hurricanes!

Our house is pretty ok. Some siding gone, downspouts and some tree branches down. One of my stores on the other hand!! We are still cleaning up. I had a couple hot tubs move from their location standing up outside of the fence to laying down inside of the fence. We have damage to the roof and to our large sign. The weird part is that the wind ripped off metal signed we had bolted to the concrete walls. However it is still nothing like the flood we had several years ago. So we clean up and keep moving.

I'm glad everyone is OK.
Hey look on the brite side if you need a tree expert
there's one here on the board.;)

But actually :scratchin I think a tree expert would be an arborist.

Lumberjacks can be kinda sexy ;)
An Arborist would be mostly nerdy:rolleyes:

You think trees are your friends......and then they go and do this!

I'm sorry to hear this. I bet you're glad to have insurance now, huh? ;)
