So a CM told me...

...that starting in January 2012, Tomorrowland is undergoing a HUGE renovation. The attractions will remain open but they are redoing almost the entire land and it will take upwards of 2 years to complete. Anyone else hear/read about this. Is this old news, rumor, or did I get the scoop?

I'm just going to start quoting people in every response since all day I've had the magical ability to post replies to messages that haven't been written yet :wizard:

Interesting! I feel like I *kind* of remember reading something, but now it escapes me. How's that lol. :rotfl:

The "New Tomorrowland" rumor has been around for years and years.

Yes I know, but rumored with a date? Should be interesting. Not a huge fan of WDW's Tomorrowland so I'm hoping they don't use WDW's as the model.

they just did a massive renovation for the 50th anniversary of DLR (2005) so another one in less than 10 years?

If a WDW bus driver tells you, it's a done deal. Otherwise, don't trust it.

I don't see them doing anything until Carsland is complete and then they can sit back and see how the economy plays out. I would like to see them bring back the peoplemover and put the rocket rods/ships back where they belong and then turn innoventions into something better.

The rumor I would like to see play out is the land somewhere between toontown and frontierland/rivers of america could turn into another big mountain ride.

How about Candy Mountain that Walt dreamed of?

We were just at DL and while waiting in line for Rapunzel, a woman said that after this year, they are changing Rapunzel, that they are not going to have her as M&G in Fantasyland, they are putting her with all the princesses. While driving home yesterday, DH found something about the Fantasyland change that said some of the rides are going away, Dumbo is being updated, all the princesses are going to be moved into that area for M&G, and some other things that I can't remember right now. However, that same article also said they were getting rid of Ariel's Grotto and putting in the LMAUA ride -- so, how truthful is it? Who knows???

What you heard is about Disneyland. They are building a new Princess M&G area.

What your husband saw was about the MK in WDW.

I asked my Imagineer coworker (who is working on Carthay Circle Theater right now) and she said it is just a rumor. They have floated around the idea of a TL reno for many years, but right now it's nothing, just ideas. She said that all this work they are doing on CA will mean that no other major projects are being worked on right now and won't be started until all the new stuff is open for awhile.
