Shawna- I'll be praying for you to have the most magical trip yet!!!! :mickeyjum
Safe travels and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

The first candle is lit on the evening of Dec. 1. Dec. 1 - Dec. 2 is the first day.

Jewish holidays always start at sundown, and run until the following sundown. That's because in the story of creation in Genesis, it reads, "And it was evening and it was morning - the first day" (or some similar translation - it's clear in the Hebrew). Therefore, evening came first, and that's when the Jewish day starts. That's why we light candles for Shabbat on Friday night.
Thanks for the lesson! I don't have any Jewish kids in my care right now but we always celebrate it. I think it's good for the kids to experience other beliefs and cultures. We also have a little Seder meal at Passover- they love making the charoset! It may not be completely traditional but I try!

Mel- I completely understand about the FB. I left for a while and came back and although I have all my settings set to the most private I can and keep any personal info off my profile, it still makes me nervous sometimes.

Jenny- I don't understand your potty drama. Of course your kids should be wiping up their pee and toothpaste. Have them scrub the tub and do the laundry and dishes while they're at it. I wouldn't lose sleep over it- the poster probably doesn't even have kids because if she did she'd know better!!!! :rolleyes1

Have a great weekend Snowbirdies!!!!!

Hello everybody!! thanks for all the well wishes and prayers!! I covet them!! Well...Mike and the kids just took the doggie for me and are running to Walgreens to pick up a Rx I forgot to get yesterday!! Anyhoo....suitcases are packed...waiting on their DSs and games to charge so we can put it in their backpacks!!! Upstairs is shut down, rooms are getting closed up, pool is covered, fridge is cleaned, trash is out...one last load of sheets are washing/drying....about to print boarding passes and do early airline check-in. Then I will be off the 'net!!! Just wanted to say thanks and I will miss you guys!! Y'all are the best! I love all of ya!!!
Kim...don't fret and DO NOT take that ticker down!! I am believing in a good thing for you and that you will get to go anyway!!!! Nov is still a good ways off...I bet you will be surprised how much u save between now and then, and what deals may come out will be a bonus!!!! Ok birdies!!! :wave2: See ya soon!!!!:wizard:

Hi all!!

I've also been pretty quiet in posting. I guess my life is relatively dull, these days. :rolleyes1

My husband is in physical therapy, after developing a case of plantar fascitis. In typical dum man way, he, you know, ignored it for six weeks and is now complaining that it isn't better instantly. The PT he's seeing thinks it's a result of the stress fracture from May. *sigh* I've had to do everything I can to not say "Well, DUH. You're the one who didn't think to follow up on all of that!" :rotfl:

My knee surgery is Tuesday. The plate is coming out! The plate is coming out!!! Sometimes, I feel like people judge me for the surgeries I've had and I wonder if I'm doing the right thing to have this plate taken out. And then I try to bend my right leg past 90 degrees and I get over that. But, unfortunately, my arrival time WAS set for 6:15am (I was going to be first) but today they changed it to 1pm. I think I'm going to be last.

My workplace has a new system rolling out Monday that totally upends my job. They've made this HUGE stinking deal out of it. I mean, HUGE. I've probably spent 15-20 hours of time in meetings and interchanges and information sessions about it. Well, I got a sneak peak at it today and it took me 30 seconds to get my profile set up. :confused3 Oh well, at least training the faculty will be easier than we thought!

I'm SO looking forward to my Disney cruise in February, despite the constant news updates on the Carnival Splendor fire. But that was an accident and it really can happen anywhere!

We're back!
It was a really great trip. We loved Caribbean Beach. I doubt I'll take another baby at 3 months though. He did really well and we still enjoyed ourselves immensely, but it was a little rough towards the end.

Sarah - good luck with the surgery, and keeping your DH on the path to recovery! Men!
I'm sure the Disney cruise will be WAY better than that Carnival ship's ordeal. :)

Becca - welcome home! Are you going to do a TR or just tell us some of the highlights of your trip? CBR is great isn't it?

I texted Shawna this morning with a picture of the 4 inches of snow in my yard and she was on her plane getting ready to take off! She's on her way to WDW RIGHT NOW!!!! Lucky she didn't have the cruddy weather we are having today!

Good thing I ran and got DD9 her snowboots last night!!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't had much time to DIS lately. Some weeks I have more downtime than others depending on what mood the kids are in at naptime LOL. It's Friday and they are giving me a well needed break today :cloud9: and I'm using the time wisely...listening to the DIS radio, dreaming of Disney and saying hello to all of my internet friends. :goodvibes

My Disney dreams for November aren't looking too promising. I just found out that one my families is expecting baby #3 and her other two that are full time with me will be dropping to part time for the summer while she's on maternity. It stinks because I always lose 3 other kids every summer because they are teacher kids. So that leaves me down 5 kids with one full timer left for the summer! Talk about a hit to the wallet!!!! :scared: At least I know now and we can prepare for it but that more than likely means there won't be much extra money to add to my Disney fund. :sad2: I'm not giving up hope or taking my ticker down though!

I wish you lived closer, you could keep my kids for the summer!

4" snow??? I'm SO not ready for snow! We had temps in the 70's all week and a cold front moved in so it will be 50's all weekend. We enjoyed what I'm sure will be our last warm fall night with burgers on the grill and smores on the new firepit (and a bit more beer than we probably should've had ) on the patio with friends. Andy and Drew had to get out early to go deliver bags for Scouting for Food, I'm curled up with my coffee, Facebook and the Dis while Keaton's watching Disney channel. :thumbsup2

DITTO!!! That's when I use daycare the most!

And it's not done yet. WE are expecting up to 9 inches when it's done (tomorrow!)
Dave's at work and texted me the power went out and so they can't really see to sort the mail and then they will be stuck because the garage door to get out won't open! Going to be a long day for him.
We did not get all our patio/deck furniture stored away yet either! We were about one day too slow! This should melt and we will get it done, but jeez, what a hassle!

Sarah went with her friend to the science museum for Girls and Science day. Hope they got there by now. I didn't want to drive, so the other girl's mom said she would still go! Little bit nuts I say!

I texted Shawna some pics of snow and she just texted me back about how beautiful it is. I just asked her if they had landed in FL yet. I will keep you all posted of anything I hear!

eta: She is in line for the ME bus!!!

Shawna is on the ME bus. They plan to check in at the Beach Club, may go to DTD and eat at Earl or hang out at the resort. She has plans to meet up with Shelly later and might eat at Captain's Grill tonight.

Sheree- Thanks for keeping us posted about Shawna's day. I keep meaning to send her a text!

We don't have any snow in Buffalo yet, but next weekend we're supposed to get a "wintery mix". Yuck! Today it's in the 60's so we plan to get some yard stuff taken care of....raking, putting away the deck furniture, etc.

Well, last night Madison went to her first sleepover party! It was just around the corner and there were only 3 other girls there. They watched "Beezus and Ramona", had pizza for dinner and were asleep by 10:30pm. Nice! However, they all woke up around 6am! :scared1: Anyways...while she had fun with her friends, Tony and I got to go to PF Chang's for dinner. Yummy! Afterwards, we walked around the mall for awhile. It was a really nice night.

I'm thinking about a trip report. I haven't really decided yet. I never finished my last one. I have more pictures this time though, so that should make it more interesting.

I should have pre-ordered the Photopass CD, because I forget that they changed the deal while you're in the parks. I ended up paying the full $150 and getting the stock photo CD. We got over 100 pictures taken though, so once I finish putting borders on them, we'll probably end up spending only about a dollar per picture. There are at least 10 that I would have wanted copies of, so it's not really a bad deal. I guess that's what happens when you book a last minute trip and don't think things through all the way.

That's so cool! Thanks for that - education in other cultures is so important!

Good morning Snowbirds!

We're back. The trip was good, very cold in the beginning, but the weather was great the second half. Same with the crowds - really crowded in the beginning, but it got better later in the week. I probably wouldn't go during the F&W Festival again, it really took away from Epcot - huge crowds everywhere and drunk people. :sad2: So all in all it was not as great of a trip as last November, but we still had some very awesome moments and a wonderful time!

We met up with Shawna Saturday evening. We all chatted away until it was time for us to get to our dinner. Very nice family, I wish we would have had more time to visit with them. I hope they are having a great time!

Welcome back Becca. So glad to hear you had a nice time and enjoyed CBR! :)

Welcome Back Shelly and Becca!
I can't wait to hear about your trips... especially feedback on CBR.
That is where we will be soon!

Hope Shawna is having a great trip !
So exciting to see all the snowbirds making great memories again, even if there were drunken crowds :sad2: - always forcus on the bright side :goodvibes

Sarah- Tomorrow is the big day! :cool1: Good luck!!!!

Becca- Welcome home! I'm patiently waiting for a pic of Gideon in his first Mickey ears!!! popcorn::

Jennie and Sheree- I'd take your kids for the summer in a heartbeat!!! :goodvibes

Shelly- Welcome home! I can't wait to hear all about your magical moments and MVMCP!!! :santa: I'm kind of curious about the drunk people too. :rolleyes1 So fun you got to meet up with Shawna and her family! :goodvibes

That's so cool! Thanks for that - education in other cultures is so important!
We have a pretty decent Jewish population in my area. I just won't tell you about the time I accidentally gave a little one milk at a meal that had meat! :scared1: I felt awful!

Snowbirds! I've missed you! :grouphug: I feel like I've been away for 100 years. OK, it hasn't been that long, but I did have 14 pages to catch up on! :surfweb:

So, first...
CONGRATULATIONS to Meghan and Tony!:cool1: I'm so excited for you! I hope you are feeling better by now, and that everything goes smoothly. :goodvibes

Becca, Wendy, Shelly, and now Shawna have all gone on their trips! Wow! :yay: I'm looking forward to reading trip reports, or just hearing some details here.

Sarah, is today your surgery? I hope everything goes GREAT and you feel better than ever quickly. Sending prayers and hugs your way.

Sheree, I'm bummed that you're postponing your Europe trip, although I totally understand. I have to admit that I've priced a few possibilities for us to go to Disneyland Paris during the week of March 7-11 when the boys have off from school, and I hoped that would coincide with your trip. Maybe the following spring? Just make sure you come before summer 2012, 'cause that's when we're heading back to the States! ;)

Well, we had a nice trip to Croatia and Slovenia (in spite of the fact that I had done almost NO planning :rolleyes1...remember I had told you that I was having trouble getting excited about the trip since it wasn't Disney?). Saw some interesting sights, including two beautiful national parks; had some relaxing time; visited with friends in Germany along the way. At one point I asked the boys how they would plan a week's vacation in Europe. DS12 thought for a while, and came up with an ambitious itinerary with a day in London, a day in Paris, and the rest of the week in Greece (haven't been there yet) :upsidedow. DS10 thought even longer, and eventually said he'd go to Disneyland Paris. :thumbsup2

DH and I are celebrating our 19th anniversary today! Where does the time go?

Hope you're all having a happy Disney day! :flower3:

Well, I was second-guessing my resort selection - POR. I know a lot of people love it, but there have been so many posts about how run-down the rooms are, even for people who love the resort. It's scheduled for a refurb, too. And my DH says the resort doesn't matter to him, but I think it would anyway, particularly if the beds aren't comfy. He's not a Disney-phile; he's coming mainly to please me. But I want him at least to be comfortable.

So I changed resorts! I'm going back to CSR! Yes, I know a lot of people don't like it, but I was there before the refurb and liked it a lot. So I was able to book a king room (didn't need it, and didn't want it since it was extra, but that's all that was left) with the PIN discount that I used for POR. So it's only $100 more to switch! I'm excited, since I know it'll be comfortable! :cool1:

Welcome back to everyone who's returning! I'm doing the
25 DAY HAPPY DANCE! :dance3::dance3:

Happy Anniversary Kathy and your DH!

I'm bummed that we're not going to Europe this year too - but we are hoping/planning on March 2012, so I will keep you posted!

snykymom - Good for you - make yourself happy, I say!! And you got a good deal too. it's coming up soon!!!
