Snow White's Scary Adventure Closure

Don't care about this. Don't care about Mr. Toad. :confused3

Tomorrowland Speedway does need to go, though.

I agree 100% with the Indy Cars. And I'm still getting over Mr. Toad. I've never seen anyone come back from Disney lauding the speedway/whatever it's called now.

my kids love the speedway. much lauding.

snow white? not so much. but I liked it a lot. had a hard time convincing someone to ride it with me though.

They either need to overlay Cars (Lightning McQueen, Mater etc.) on the Speedway or create another attraction on all of that land. Think of how much space it takes up. I know it's been around a while, and some may consider it a classic, but how many kids are really thrilled about it any more?

i don't think Ariel was supposed to have a cottage. Cinderella was supposed to have a chateau though. i thought she was supposed to be in an area near her ride. i'm going to assume that she will remain since it doesn't seem that her or Belle's plans have changed.

i think we should reserve judgment on the coaster until we see it. i mean, people are already assuming things about it. it looks bigger/longer than Goofy's. i have a feeling it will be more in line with Big Thunder than Goofy. but that's just my assumption, based on nothing in particular. and my children ride Big Thunder and have been since they were pretty young. i don't consider it a big, scary coaster at all. i do consider it family-friendly.

i just hope they do the expansion right. i hope they don't rush through and make something mediocre out of something potentially great!

The little bit I've read so far reminds me of the Alice ride at DL, lots of twists and turns, inside and outside........ it's a nice ride, so I'd be fine with that. But not anything like the mini thrill ride many seem to want.

I'll start out by saying I kinda like SWSA. There's something to be said for having a dressed up old-school spook house ride.

And I will have zero interest in a princess m&g.

But to read a lot of posts here, you'd think they were ripping the very heart out the Magic Kingdom!

For another, perhaps less heat-of-the-moment-emotional perspective, I went back to a recent thread entitled "Ten Attractions You Must Do To Be Happy". And found that among 97 replies (all listing ten attractions), only 3 mentioned Snow White, plus one ambiguous mention (SW = Small World or Snow White?).

Snow White was not mentioned by the thread originator.

Thanks for pointing this out! I'm going right now to remedy at least the last sentence of your post.

I know an 8yo who has put it as #1 on his To Do list.

He's not a fan of the Cars movie, so I don't know if that would make him want to do it more or less or what.

It's a popular ride, though.

It is a popular ride. But it has as much to do with Tomorrowland as Stitch and Monsters Inc. and Buzz Lightyear and... oh wait. I answered my own question. Damn you Disney.

my kids LOVE the speedway. i think it is slow and stinky. but they love it.

i'm not happy about SWSA or losing a dark ride. but i will say this, heaven help them if they EVER decide to get rid of Small World or Peter Pan. those two... sacred to me. i think HM, POTC and JC are safe, but i feel the same way about those as well.

(although. i would love to see some LOVE given to Peter Pan. it is in desperate need of some TLC.)

and i didn't put SWSA in my top ten must-rides because my kids have refused to ride it. DD rode it at age three--probably a bit too young. DS wouldn't ride it because it's a "princess" ride. they both decided to ride it on our last trip, our last night, on our way out of the park. the wait was 25 minutes, so we didn't do it. we just put it on our list for our next trip (which was supposed to be in January, but we had to cancel). i am so sad that we didn't take the time to wait in line for it. :(

Oh it's all a matter of time. But when they start removing tried and true attractions like this, anything and I repeat ANYTHING is possible.

Amazing, thousands of threads a year about favorite rides, top 3, top 10, etc and Snow barely gets a mention, but yet now Disney announces they are scrapping the ride and putting in something new and shiny with a Snow White theme and people here get out the pitchforks and fire up the torches.

I am glad for the change, Disney needs to update many attractions 'classic' or not. SWSA was in bad need of a refurb and the while it is cute the dark ride with primitive technology was in need of an update to stay relevant to what customers want in this day and time.

Amen to that! It's not like they're ripping down a Snow White ride and putting up a "Robinsons" attraction. I'm guessing the Mine Cart will have enough animatronic SW crap in it to keep dark ride lovers (like me) and Snow White fans (also like me) happy.

I love SWSA but will say that it always seems to have less of a crowd than Pooh or Pan, so this is nowhere like ripping down IASW or PPF. I think parents get turned off by the "Scary" part, though it's really not that scary.

I don't believe it is going to be anything like Alice. Alice is a fairly slow moving dark ride with a small part where you are outside. This one is being billed as a "moderately intense" roller coaster. You can see from the artist's rendering that there will be outside hills and drops, although they don't look overly steep.

Also for those who have said, on this thread and others, that you can go to DL to ride the ride, that isn't exactly true. They are different, and in my opinion (and DDs (4)) the DL version is far inferior to the WDW version. Snow White is one of DD's absolute favorite WDW rides, but she does not care for DL's version. It is missing key "Snow White" presence. In fact, I think Snow White herself only appears once- on the stairs in the cottage when the dwarves are singing (which if anyone remembers the movie, she was sitting in the room with the dwarves and dancing with them, not climbing the stairs). The DL queue is scary, it is like a dungeon; there is no beautiful opening with Snow White sitting on the stairs before you go in; there is no magic mirror talking towards you scene; there is no scene where Snow White is taking the apple from the Witch- instead the witch is offering the apple to the rider; and MOST importantly, there is no scene where the Prince is kissing Snow White at the end, and no Dopey waving Goodby which are DD's absolute favorite parts of the ride.

Sassagoula Billy, it is day 2 of the confirmation of the destruction and I'm still livid!

That's a great idea.

It's bittersweet for me- I'm sad that SWSA is going but I am excited to see the new attraction.

i've never ridden the DL version. but from your description, it sounds more like the ORIGINAL SWSA that was in WDW. the one you ride now with Snow White's presence was a refurb that brought her more into the story (assuming because guests complained). the original WDW version ended with the witch trying to push a huge gemstone onto your head.

For me, it's Carousel of Progress. That's the old, dated, draws-no-crowd attraction that I live in fear will close one of these days to free up the real estate. My grandfather was a safety engineer for the 1964 World's Fair so we have a special family connection to the ride's history, and I would be devastated (livid, even? :lmao:) to see it go.
