I was thinking of getting snow tubes for the kids I babysit for Christmas. I was just wondering if anyone has had one before. Do they break easy or are they a good gift? They seem to be getting enough toys from their parents so I wanted to ge t them something different. Thanks

If they enjoy sledding, then that would be a great gift. Me and my brother have had some of the most fun in the winter with these. There is a hill right around the block from my house and any chance we got we would go tubing. We'd be there for hours. I would have gone tubing on Sunday, if I wouldn't have looked ridiculous being the only grown up there. They are usually made out of a thick material (think like an aerobed) and are pretty resistant to breaking. My brother is a bull in a china shop and they lasted a couple of winters with him. I hope they have as much fun as I had!

My kids love them. They are light and easy to carry. They can pop or leak. We have had one for about three years - no problem - the other lasted 2 and now we need a new one - hey I'll get it for Christmas - thanks for the reminder.

They aren't that expensive either. I'd vote for yes.

Thanks for the quick reply. They go on sale on Saturday so I will get them then. I will get the girl a princess one and the boy will get spiderman. :cool1:

I used to love snowtubes. They slide sooo much easier than regular sleds. When I was younger we had snowtubes, and "snowboggons" which were inflatable toboggans. The snowtubes were the best though.

Great gift. There will be three under our tree - one for my 10 yr old, one for my (almost) 12 yr old & one for 44 yr old

The fun that can be had with these before they eventually pop (they will) is worth every penny!!

Funny - last winter our Boy Scouts went sledding. My DSs tubes were such a hit that they were hijacked by the adult leaders who eventually did them in. It was fun to watch and worth it - we'll be buying more.

last year I got those for the kids I babysat for and they loved them......then they brought them to the lake they went to and had a blast again.......they loved them

Yup, they can be used in the water too. We were out on snowtubes on Long Island Sound at my friend's house this summer :)

You know, I've lived on LI my whole life and I have yet to do that. I think that will be a must-do for the summer.

I am glad you all like them. They are on sale for $10 for the kids snow tubes and $15 for an adults so you cant go wrong. They have a big hill in their backyard so I hope they have fun.
