Snow Pictures

How can you resist a good, giggly sledding picture!

Here is one that my seven year old took with the Canon D10 that Santa brought him. It's one of those moose type things with pointy horns.

You should Photoshop the nose red and freak out his classmates!

I went out to shovel the driveway this morning. It was just a few degrees above zero. Our van was camouflaged.

:lmao: I wouldn't even bother shoveling if it's only that much snow! :teeth:

I tend to be lazy - if the snow is below the axles, I usually let it be. Now that my wife's Mazda got totaled over the summer and she's back in a Subaru (as am I, so we both have AWD), I tend to wait until it's at least 6' deep or so. The downside is that it's a lot of snow to move and it tends to get bumpy due to the tiretracks having compressed lines of snow too dense to free from the driveway!

FWIW, it got relatively warm around here and we ended up with a green Christmas, so no new snow photos. It's supposed to snow a few inches tomorrow - on a day when my job requires me to be outside for a while! :(

DS's Honda Accord looked like this after we had already shoveled it once earlier on Dec. 19th.

And all that rain on Christmas day washed 95% of the snow away; now it's really soggy outside!

Snow covered Rockies. This may even be a ski area.

My parents are zealots about keeping the driveway shoveled. The problem is that if you drive on it, the snow gets packed and turns to ice. It can linger for weeks and weeks. The driveway is pretty steep, so ice can be a problem.

It's pretty easy to shovel it. The snow is so powdery, that "shoveling" is more akin to "sweeping".

First time it has snowed in Texas at Christmas in 100 years the news said. This was Christmas Eve.

For this shot I could not grab my camera fast enough. I opened the shades on the back window this morning. We are getting a fresh covering of beautiful white stuff when I noticed a couple of flake stuck to the window. To my surprise I saw this tiny flake that had perfect form. It was only about 3-4 mm in diameter so I had to grab my Macro. Wait I don't have a Macro. So I grabbed my Lensbaby and added some of the Macro attachments. I was able to get in pretty close with those and snap a couple of shots. Luckily too, because I only got 5 shots when a gust of wind blew it away. Hope you enjoy.

PS . Thanks to my wife for not getting mad at me when I woke her up trying to grab my camera. She thought it was worth it after she saw the shot.

It was too COLD to stay out long enough to get a decent picture, so I settled for some snapshots.

This one was taken Christmas Eve afternoon:

We went sledding this afternoon. The lighting was terrible. From the bottom of the hill looking up at the sledders, I was looking into the sun. They were also sledding through the trees, so there were lots of shadows. I did the best I could under the conditions. Well, I could have done better, but I spent a fair amount of my time sledding as well.

Andrea. Love the macro attachments. I now have a collection of attachments for the lensbaby. Telephoto, wide, super wide, macro 7X, 10X and a fisheye (new for Christmas). Becoming my favorite lens for creative work.

I'm also a DSLR newbie - so don't be too rough on me!!:goodvibes I did decide on my new camera based on some of this boards recommendations! Go D90!:cool1:

We got about 20" of snow starting on Friday the 18th and still have 5-6" in places around our property. These pictures were taken on Christmas Eve.
