Snow Mom & her 3 dwarfs...grumpy, sicky, and sneaky! Aug. '12 TR (Update 6/1)Complete

Glad to see your DS wasn't afraid of the characters! Looks like the kids were having soo much fun. We love Tusker House breakfast.

I'm in! Followed you over from the "NOT impressed with the BC" thread hoping you will restore my enthusiasm! We are hoping to stay here next year, however my DH is a little like yours...every 3 or 4 years will do. :confused3 He likes Disney, but doesn't find it relaxing, no matter how much pool time we get in. He prefers a beach so we are currently alternating years. We were at CSR Aug 7-14 so experienced the same hot weather. Did AKL in 2010. I am a little sneaky and have plans to book for late 2013 and will just say it has been more than a year!:thumbsup2 Plus we will be doing a cruise in April (not DCL), so that counts as his in between trip.:rotfl:

Jumping on board, looking forward to hearing all about your trip!

It's been awhile since I traveled with little ones, but I remember all too well how stressful it was flying when the kids were little, the crowds in the airport made me nervous and we also never knew how the kids would take the flight. My fear was always that I would have that screaming child that everyone on the plane wanted to strangle

How exciting that you guys got to be the family of the day at Camp Minnie Mickey! Surely the excitement on your kids faces melted Grumpy a little bit!

They LOVED all the characters!! I hear ya on Tusker House...we weren't going to do it this trip....and then at the last minute I changed my mind and booked it...glad I did!!

Exactly...that is the problem with my DH...he finds NOTHING relaxing about it. He just hates always being on the go....I really tried to be more relaxed and go with the flow on the trip just for him! I think our next trip will be by the beach or something...I know the kids would enjoy it too!

Neat we were there the same time! It was hot....even at night I thought it was bad!

Good for you for having plans for 2013. I'm not sure when our next trip will be...I'd like to go sometime in October...if we did this...it wouldn't be as long of a trip. But maybe with lower crowds, we could get just as much done!

Have fun on your cruise...I'm not quite sure I could do one...we may try a short one when the kids get older!

EXACTLY!! I was afraid Carson was going to scream or cry or something. But he did really well. DH went into thinking Carson was going to try to get up and run around....but we just told Carson that the "cops" say you have to have your seatbelt on...and that was that!!

And I think you're right...I did see many smiles on Grumpy!!!

On the way to It's Tough to be a Bug....I made everyone stop for a picture!!

Our original plan was DH and DD would do It's Tough to be a Bug. I've seen too many kids scream their heads off...and beings DS is afraid of real bugs...I was sure the show wouldn't go over well with him. However, as he and I were going to part from DD and DH, he started screaming bloody murder that he wanted to go. So I said, "Whatever....he'll just join the other kiddos crying!" We had about a 5 minute wait.

DD and I always have to take a picture with our glasses!!

Disney2012072.jpg

The show started...DH had DS on his lap...and he did just fine!! He buried his head when the scary bugs came...but didn't cry or scream!! I think DD was more scared that he was, and she has seen it several times!

After that, we headed to Dino Land. The kids were begging for a ride...so we did Triceratop Spin. Had maybe a 5 min. wait.

Disney2012074.jpg

Carson was in heaven!! However, he got mad at his sister who wanted to go up and down...and he wanted to stay up the entire ride!

After that, they wanted to play. So we went into the Boneyard. While DH had it under control (so I thought) I ran to the restroom. When I came back, DH and DD were both searching for DS...again! The good part....at least we knew he was in the play area...we just didn't know where. That boy...I tell you what!! It took a good 10 minutes of them searching til they finally found him. :confused3

Callie really wanted to do the fossil find...so we headed to that area. Carson lasted a whole 5 minutes before he threw sand at a little girl and I kicked him out!!

Disney2012075.jpg

Disney2012076.jpg

After this, we were hot and ready to go! We had a reservation for Rainforest at 1:00 pm...(it was 12:15) but we thought we'd see if they could get us in...sure enough...we were seated by 12:30 pm! The kids loved all the decorations!

Disney2012081.jpg

Carson didn't like the "storm" but I think it was because we were sitting by the Monkey's and they got SO loud!

The kids split chicken nuggets and Marty and I just split the Nachos for 2 appetizer. We weren't that hungry from breakfast!

Disney2012083.jpg

After lunch we were ready to go. We headed to the bus and had to wait about 10 minute for the bus. Then...we had to wait another 20 minutes or longer because they were switching drivers. We still had to make like 4 stops before we were "home!" It was one of our longest bus rides...we were all hot and cranky!!

When we got back to the hotel, the kids and I swam for about an hour. Then everyone laid down and napped. DH and the kids slept about 3 hours!!! I closed my eyes for a bit and then read my Kindle for the remainder of the time. We took our time getting ready....as we were heading to EMH at Magic Kingdom. Would we make it all night?!?!

I have never been one to believe in leashes (as I was lucky and my daughter didn't run away), but after the gift shop, I would have run, not walked, until I found somewhere to buy one!! You poor thing, I am sure your heart stopped until he showed back up!!

How awesome that you were family of the day for Camp Minnie, Mickey!! You accomplished a lot in a few hours!!

Looking forward to more adventures!

In reading your review I can't get over how much your hubby is like mine, well other than mine is the disney addict. He never smiles for pictures unless forced, the kids always sleep with me, snores, and the list goes on. We also "lost" our youngest at Pop one year for about 20 minutes when he was 3. I love reading what you write, it takes me back a few years.

I went back and forth...back and forth on the leash...and at the last minute went against it! However....now that I look back on it...I probably wouldn't have had it on him just in the gift shop!! :sad2: But it did wake me up that I need to either have his hand or pick him up while I was doing something!! Definitely lesson learned! I am glad though it happened there and not at a park! Oh...there is definitely more adventures...stay tuned!! :cool1:

LOL at our hubbys being alike!!! Sorry you lost your child once too....it's so scary!! I just felt helpless! I'm glad it takes you back....I can't WAIT until we don't have to deal with a stroller while we go. I think next time we'll have to take a single...and then that's it...no more stroller!!!

I'm amazed that your little guy did so well in It's Tough to be a Bug! My youngest has always liked it, but my oldest was probably 12 before it didn't freak him out anymore, lol!

LOL! I was SO surprised too....because if he seriously sees a bug or one lands on him...he screams bloody murder!! Like I said...Callie was more scared than he was....!!! And she knew what was going on!

It was FINALLY time to go to the Magic Kingdom! Typically, that is the first park we go to...but not this trip...so I was super excited to get there!

As I said, we had napped and took our time getting ready. So we didn't get on the bus until 7:45 pm. We luckily didn't have to make anymore stops...so arrived at the MK after about 15 minutes.

Disney2012084.jpg

Kids decked out in their dollar store light-up "jewels!"

As we got off the bus we could see it was packed!! The lines to get bags checked was long...so immediately Mr. Grumpy pants starts complaining! I gave him the "don't ruin this moment" glare! We entered the park and everyone was waiting for the parade. We decided to head straight to Tomorrowland! DS had one thing on his mind..."Buzz Shoot!" That's what he called Buzz Lightyear's Spin!

After we zig-zagged through all the people, we made it to Buzz's Spin. It had like a 30 min. wait, so we immediately got a FP for 9:30 pm. While we were waiting we decided to do one of my favorites! I just love....The People Mover!!! I don't know what it is...but I could ride that thing over and over and over!! It's relaxing and I love the view you get...especially at night! It's so pretty! Plus...there's not usually a long line!!

Disney2012085.jpg

Disney2012086.jpg

After this we decided to do Monster's Inc. We had about a 10 min. wait. The participants in our show were awesome...it was hilarious!! I even saw DH crack a smile! Carson did well sitting during the show! He was taking it all in!

When done...we did our FP for Buzz! DS was in HEAVEN!! He loved it...even though he wasn't very good at it! I will admit...I wasn't very good at it either!

Disney2012092.jpg

Then we decided to head over and check out the new Fantasyland! My first impression...I thought it was beautiful! Seeing Dumbo all lit up at night was just magical! And I really like the water/splash area. I just wish it didn't have so "much" water coming out of it. I never let the kids play because I didn't want them getting drenched!

We decided to head to Barnstormer since there was only a 10 minute wait...which really was like a 5 minute wait! We were anxious to see how Carson would handle a "fast" ride!

Disney2012094.jpg

Here are the kids waiting!

Disney2012095.jpg

Carson LOVED it...he just laughed and laughed! He is just like me...he loves the fast rides! I can't wait until he's tall enough to ride them all with me! (Since DD won't do ToT, EE, etc. with me)

We decided to skip Dumbo...it was like a 30 minute wait...and at this point I didn't realize they had the new play area! So we decided to head out...

On our way out of Fantasyland, of course we had to do the Tea Cups! Had about a 5 min. wait! And we had that cup spinning....and the kids laughing...

Disney2012097.jpg

Disney2012098.jpg

Disney2012096.jpg

Next up....Small World of course!! Not a favorite...but a definite classic, must do! Kids loved it as well!

Disney2012100.jpg

I wanted to do Haunted Mansion so bad at night...so we headed there. We had about a 10 minute wait. We took the Cemetery Route since I haven't seen it! It was neat! Kids liked playing! Callie knew what was coming...so she was whining she was scared....

Disney2012101.jpg

Disney2012103.jpg

Carson had no idea what was going on!

Disney2012102.jpg

Both kids did really well! Neither were scared! And I loved that we got stopped at the scene where the ghosts are eating and dancing! It's my favorite part and it was so nice to really get to see all of it!!

It was now like 10:00 pm....we hadn't really eaten supper...so we stopped at Peco's Bill. DH and I got Pulled Pork...kids had peanut butter and jelly. Carson was tired and got cranky. He hardly ate...so we decided it was time to go.

But not before we did PoTC!!! I just "had" to!! Another one of my favorites...DD's too!! We had about a 10 minute wait!

Once we got off...we decided to go. We were glad to go...it was one of the most packed EMH's I had ever seen!

One last pic before we left....if you look real close...you can see a bride and a groom up ahead...she had her wedding dress on...and he had a kilt on. I think they had just gotten married that day...everyone was congratulating them as they were exiting!!

Disney2012104.jpg

We had an uneventful ride home....and went straight to bed!

Tomorrow I was doing DHS EMH alone!!

Loving your TR, we will be at Disney in 99 days. Sorry your husband is not a big Disney fan. I think my husband and ds 10 love it more then me. Looking forward to more posts.

I'm loving your trip report! Your husband's facial expressions are so funny- reminds me of myself. I hate schlepping on and off rides and waiting in lines and oohh the germs so many germs. That being said I love the place and can't wait to go back....always planning our next trip!

I'm so jealous...of both your upcoming trip...and your DH is a big Disney fan!!! I just wish mine was!!

LOL!! Yup....those all describe DH!! Except the loving it....I will say....at times he does look like he's having fun...that's all that matters!! I don't know when our next trip will be....I keep debating! We'll have to see!!!

Since we got to bed late....I decided to head to DHS alone the next morning. My mission...get Fast Passes for TSM!! (Yeah, yeah...I found out you can only get a FP if you have entered the park...I had no idea...duh me!!! In the end...you'll see it worked out!!)

So I got up at 7:30 and headed for the park. At first I was going to take the boat...but decided since it was a beautiful morning...I was alone and it was so peaceful....to make the walk. I had to stop and ask for directions...I didn't want to walk more than I had to!

I found the path and made the trek to DHS. It took me about 15 minutes. Not too bad...it wasn't hot yet...so that made it better!

As soon as I got there....I saw this....at 7:55 am.

Disney2012107.jpg

I knew it would be crowded...but I was hoping it would be less, beings 8 am is early to get an entire family there by then!! I guess other families with small children move faster than mine do in the morning!!

Since I didn't bring a bag, I didn't have to wait in that line. I got in line to be let into the park...was almost to the front...thought I was in the wrong line (I wasn't :confused3)...went to the back of the line to start all over. UGH...I was so mad at myself. :furious:

After waiting an extra 10 minutes...I was in and headed for TSM. I got my one Fast Pass...UGH at myself again!!

I decided since I was there...alone...to go do some other rides. I figured I should do RnRC first...since ToT usually has a shorter wait time. I got there by 8:30 am, and waited about 20 min. to get on. I was excited...this is one of my favorites!! I got in my limo...took off....then midway through the ride...the lights came on. I'm thinking, "I don't think this is suppose to happen." It was weird...you could see everything that was going to happen...which totally ruined the experience!

We finally came to a straight away...and stopped!! And we heard the announcement about technical issues and then, "Please stay seated...a Cast Member will be with you shortly!" I think it's funny they say that...I know they have to...but there's no way you can get out of that harness on RnRC!! Luckily, I was stopped with some very talkative people! We made the most of our 25-30 min. wait! That "we'll be with you shortly"...is so untrue!!

It was fine though...we all fished our cameras out of our pockets...and took some pics.

Here is where we got stopped...right at the stop sign!! ;)

Disney2012110.jpg

Had to take a pic of the "Civic Center" sign. I know they're not talking about the one in Illinois...but we do have a Civic Center in Peoria!

Disney2012111.jpg

And the track

Disney2012109.jpg

Six CMs finally came...and escorted us off the ride, down the stairs, and back to the starting point. We were all offered Fast Passes for the ride to be used before Wed. the 15th. Unfortunately, I never got to use mine.

While I was on the ride...DH was texting that the kids were up. So instead of riding ToT....I took the boat back to the hotel. The boat was so much better!!!

Hi from a fellow Central Illinoisan! Enjoying your trip report :) I thought about that civic center too when I saw your picture

When I had gotten back to our room, DH had fed the kids breakfast in the room...(Good DH!!) I informed them what happened with the FP situation...ran a couple scenarios of what we could do...and here's what we decided on.

1) Carson and I would go back to DHS to ride TSM. Since he was the one OBSESSED with it, I felt this was a good decision.

2) Callie wasn't feeling the best, I could tell, so she and DH decided to stay back and swim while we were gone. DH wasn't too excited....but Callie was! That girl is a FISH!!

I ate a quick bowl of cereal, and Carson and I were on our way!

We decided to take the boat over. I knew Carson would love it! Plus, I took nothing with us except the camera! Not even the stroller.....

Here was our boat coming to get us...

Disney2012112.jpg

Carson on the boat....

Disney2012136.jpg

As soon as we got to the park, I headed over to 50's Prime Cafe. We were suppose to have a lunch ADR there, but since half the crew didn't come, I decided to cancel it.

Next up, Photopass pictures! DH isn't thrilled about them, so while it was just us to, I went for it!!

38395840071.jpg

38395840073.jpg

38395840077.jpg

Our FP return was from 10:30 am - 11:30 am. I think by this time it was close to 11 am, so that was our next stop!

We walked right into the FP line and off we went!! The entire time, Carson is yelling, "Woody Shoot!!" I was cracking up....it's funny how on his own he came up with "Buzz Shoot" at MK and "Woody Shoot" at DHS!!

I tried to get a couple pics while we were going through the line!!

Disney2012105-1.jpg

Disney2012113.jpg

Disney2012115.jpg

Come on Mom....!!!!! :rotfl2: He has NO patience like his mother!!

Disney2012106.jpg

We finally got where we could see the ride, and Carson was literally trying to budge everyone to get to the ride! He just kept yelling, "Come on Mom...Woody Shoot" over and over!!

We finally did the ride! I don't know how much he actually played the game...I was too engrossed in my own game playing!! I don't remember my score...but I know it was over 200,000!! We have the Wii version...so I felt I was quite prepared to play!! :lmao:

As we got off...I could see the line to meet Buzz and Woody was LONG!! But I knew it would make my boy's day....decisions, decisions!!
