Snow Globes

Where is the best palce to buy in terms of selection and is it best to have them ship them (especially if flying). This would be a gift for one of my nieces as she just informed me she is now collecting these and her b-day is a week after I get home.

I would say "World of Disney" in Downtown Disney. They have a ton of different Snow Globes to pick from, from small, med. and big ones! They even have themed park ones like a Magic Kingdom one, small world, EPCOT,etc. And I know they will ship them home or where ever you want them shipped too( also when you have things shipped home, you don't pay sales tax on the item).

I agree, World of Disney has the best selection. Plus, you can't buy any of those snowglobes any place else outside of Disney. It will be such a great gift.

I collect them too! Our tradition is to go to DTD the first night we arrive so that I can check out the globes.

I would suggest shipping that box directly to your niece. What fun it will be for her to get a package from Disney with her birthday present. If you are flying then you should definately ship as new regulations won't allow you to carry it onto the plane.

DD collects them for her Train Garden . We ship them home as well. It evens out with no tax like the others said.

Some other stores on sight also have ones that WoD doesn't have so you might want to look around before getting it if you have the time.

World of Disney!

Shipping is great but if you want to take it with you it'd probably be ok. I'm always nervous of having things shipped home incase there was a problem with it once it arrived. I recently bought the nemo one and took it home myself (on two planes). I didn't want to risk having it taken away at security so I put it in the middle of my suitcase and it got home fine, they pack them really well. My DBF did the same with a snowglobe he bought and his made it home in perfect condition as well.

Shipping is best, because with the new security measures, you won't be able to carry it on with you (liquid) and you would never want to check that in with luggage

Also, if it breaks during shipping, you'll have an easier time replacing it than if it breaks in your luggage

You might want to check individual gift shops at different resorts. My wife collects them, and got a real nice one of the Wilderness Lodge.

As said, World of Disney. The resorts will and the parks may have some only able to be purchased in their repsective locations. And don't forget AP discount at World of Disney also. Not sure if others, like DVC, etc.

Another thought, I'd just ordered one 1/2 price from Disneyshopping.com. It was only $20 for a Tinkerbell.

But, then again, you may want to get at Disney, but this way would save all the shipping worries!

How would they ever know if you had a Snow Globe in one of your carry on's? It's in that box so tight and wrapped so good, that I would not think they would be even to tell it was a Snow Globe inside of a person's carry on( even when it goes through the scan test). So do they not serve pop on the planes now either?

That thing will light up like a christmas tree on the X-ray.

Yes they still serve drinks on the planes. But they have been deemed safe or clean or cleared whatever they are calling it.
