my mom just came in and told me to go back to bed because my college actually closed! :cool1:
im shocked they closed and now i cant go back to sleep!

I'm surprised your college closed for snow too. I wonder if they are having a problem with the heat or something like that. I can remember only one time since I've lived in Michigan that Michigan State closed for snow. It was the blizzard of 1978, I think we got something like 18 inches of snow in 24 hours.

Wow, I sound like an oldtimer, don't I? Wait...I am and oldtimer ;)

Katholyn-I think it closes because there are a lot of commuters, and i know alot of the professors dont live very close to campus....im thinking that may have something to do with it!
I was PLANNING on studying today, but im thinking im going to lay in bed and watch some tv for awhile :)

wow i was hoping they would have listed the cancellations last night so i wouldnt have to get up at 6am and check but we also have a new system here at6am the phone rang, it was a recorrding saying schools were closed my sons is happy but i know it has the potential to be a liong day

No school today for me either! I think as a teacher, I'm more excited than the kids!! :jumping3: Especially at this time of year when there's so much that needs to be done!!

snow day here too for just about every school. UMASS has also closed, which is pretty rare. Maybe I'll finally have time to get some Christmas decorations up!

We've got 8 inches on the ground but we still have classes...every other school is closed but we are OPEN.
Dang private college crap.

wow! i cant believe you are still open!!

today ended up being a very unproductive but great day! i cant stand when it snows, but its good if it results in a snow day!

I was in class during a tornado warning with the sirens going off ( my professor isn't too intelligent) and since we are all required to live on campus...well there is no reason to cancel..except when they shovel all the snow from the roads onto the sidewalks which totally incompacitates a walking campus.

We got A LOT of snow here, and the plows could not keep up at all. We're mainly a walking campus with probably around half of the students living on campus. We still had classes today. I was soooo glad to be an on campus student. I was hearing horror stories from my professors, and from the commuters in my classes. It was scary crossing the road near my dorm though. We cross just below the crest of a hill, and cars fly over it.

We had one today as well, 6-7 inches locally but it all came down between 6PM last night and 3 AM today, good timing for a closure. The TV station said 214 schools in NW Ohio called with cancellations!
DD#1 is not happy--the jr. high had their 7th/8th grade winter semi-formal dance tonight and it was canceled--we are waiting to see if it is rescheduled or we take back the $40 dress (many others spent more, I actually bargain shopped--knee-length dresses for this one, not long ones). She missed it last year due to a dance commitment so it's even worse.
I don't understand the policy--school is closed so no activities (elementary movie night, jr. high dance) but the high school basketball game is on-guess they won't give up the $$.
