It's 8:45 a.m. No one has plowed my street yet (4+ inches and growing). More snow (somewhere between 6 and 15 inches) is expected between now and noon. DH's work just called and cancelled because all government buildings are closed for the day. My old school district (which almost never closes) just declared a snow day. I have officially reached the threshold where I refuse to drive in to work. My boss will probably be furious, but then he doesn't have a commute which is over an hour on good days.

Who is joining me today in working from the comfort of their family room couch?

Snow Day for us here!! My 5th graders had a big holiday party planned today but I told them (yesterday) that it could be a First of the Year party when they get back from break! :)

We here in Beloit Wisconsin also have a snow day. At 7:30 this morning I measured and so far 9 inches of snow. My snowblower couldnt even make it through this heavy snow and the handle broke off :-O And its not supposed to stop until this afternoon, 2 inches an hour. My dh is a truck driver and his boss made him go to work this afternoon, right now he is on I-90 going 30mph with only a few feet of visibility. I did play a trick on our Chinese foreign exchange student girl, told her there was school this morning, made her get up, get dressed, and help me outside to try and shovel, we both gave up, decided we would wait until it ended, and then I told her there was no school. But she did enjoy trying to shovel, they dont get snow like this where she is from, maybe only a half inch if even that at the most, so I took some pictures and a video of her out in this snow and trying to shovel.

Teacher here!! Everyone is closed in this area - even Western Michigan University :cool1: :cool1: One more day to get ready for Disney World!! (if I could pull myself away from Disboards:rolleyes1 )

We have a snow day. There is not one flake of snow in the air!!! They are closed in anticipation of the snow coming across the lakes. You know what that means - less than 1" of snow will probably fall. They NEVER close schools for less than 12" or ice. But for this?

I think they didn't want to deal with the day before Christmas vacation. :)

Working at home, here.

Unfortunately, we're expecting a furniture delivery tomorrow.... I sure hope that they don't skip out on us because of a foot of snow!

Our district has neighborhood schools. They figure we can trudge the six blocks so classes were not canceled.
