FYI: was at Walmart tonight and they have a complete adult snorkle set (seems like nice quality) with mask, snorkle and fins for under $19.00. Two or three color's to choose from too.

thanks, :thumbsup2 great price, :thumbsup2 we always rent them...maybe time to re-think that idea :confused3 and go to wal-mart... ps cann't wait to hear what others do...rent or buy... :listen:

Yes, after three cruises so far, DH has gotten our money's worth out of the set I bought on clearance at Target. ;) DS has a set too.

As we have the Stingray City Tour, Xcaret Park and Castaway Cay with snorkeling scheduled at each location on our next cruise. I decided to shop around for some new equipment I ordered on-line from Snorkel-Mart while the cost was more than $19.00 I am very pleased with the quality and now have equipment that will last through many years.

I bought three sets for our 2004 cruise. One for me, and one for each of my boys. I also bought three of the vest. We used our snorkel gear at three ports on our own. It was money well spent. But on the flip side of it we had alot more stuff to pack in our suitcase. I could have packed for a family 4 in 2 suitcases, but had to bring three. I do plan on bringing our snorker gear when we go in December.

We brought along our own set on our April cruise. DS 10 had never snorkled so I thought it was a better idea $$ wise to have our own. I was afraid I would pay to rent and he wouldn't like it, etc. But by having our own set he could experiment when he felt like it and wouldn't feel pressured. In Cozumel my oldest son used the snorkle gear provided at Paradise Beach and it was very old, the seal on the mask was poor and I was just a wee bit worried about how clean it was!

We definitely got our money worth out of our own set and I'm sure we will use it again. :thumbsup2

We bought ours last night at Wal mart!!! We will be taking it on our upcoming trip!!!!!!!!

What section were they in? I have looked and cannot find any at walmart!

We didn't buy our own before we went on our cruise June 1st, but we had a LOT of trouble finding a mask that would properly fit my son. It took three tries, but he did finally get one that fit and didn't leak. I think that maybe it would be money well spent to atleast have my kids have their own?? :confused3 We won't be cruising again until next May :sad2: , but I think I'll go check out Wal-Mart! Thanks for the tip!

Sams club has the nice bodyglove versions for 29.00. They come with snorkles, fins and other junk. I think something that prevents water from entering the snorkel. Also a carring bag. Adult and kid sizes available.

Stephieann:

They were on an end-cap in the toy section at our Walmart. Hope you find them! Or try Walmart.com and see if they have them?

Good luck!

I would love to buy the masks and fins, but I am a bit worried about storing it all. Doesn't it take up a lot of space? I would have to lug gear for 4 people around. It would take up half a suitcase!!! :confused3

My husband bought a set for the boys (mask and snorkle only) at Walmart. They've been practicing in the pool, and love it! Unfortunately, the Walmart set didn't come with fins, and our youngest (5) had problems with it being too big. His mask leaked, and the mouth piece of the snorkle was too big, allowing water to get into the snorkle.

I found three sets (Dad needs some too! I dive and already have mine) at Costco for $40 (adult) and $25 (kids). The mask / mouthpiece is smaller on the kids' sets so we shouldn't have the leakage problem. But we haven't been back to the pool to try them out yet.

Anyway, the sets are by US Divers (good quality gear), include an ocean going snorkel, mask, fins, and carry / storage bag for each set.

We found great sets at our local Big Lots. They were originally $29.99 and we got them for $5.00 per set. Now our family of 5 all have their own snorkel sets.

Love your name!! Hello from down in Salem!

You definately want your own snorkel when you realize that they don't disinfect them after use. They simply rinse them in a bucket of water (at least those you receive on excursions not sure about from DCL). I'd rather deal with packing bulky objects than worrying about goodness knows what.
