snorkeling gear

In our last 2 cruises, DH and I have not made it over to the adults beach. Something we intend to remedy this time! My question is this: do you still have to stop by Gil's to get your snorkel gear, or is there somewhere on the adults beach to get snorkel gear?

We made this very mistake on our last cruise. We made the long hike all the way to the Serenity Bay Beach and found that no snorkeling equipment could be rented on that side of the island.

Needless to say, we didn't end up snorkeling that day!

I brought my snorkel and flippers last year. Disney will loan you the floatation vest that the renters get for free.

the flotation vest is free. the snorkel gear is $25.
we bring our own snorkel and mask and just rent the fins for $9

My daughter is four. You need to be five to rent snorkeling gear, but if I think she is up to trying it with me, can I rent snorkel gear for her? I know she would love to try it and she is really good about learning this stuff, I mean, she just turned 4 march 15 and she skiis, hikes, backpacks with me, and even does a little mountain biking. (We live in the mountains). If, being her mother, I think she is able to try this, would they let me rent the snorkeling gear? We will just be in the shallow part. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You could pick up a snorkel set for her at home and bring it along. It'll cost you the same, or less than renting. I'm packing snorkel gear for all four of us...the idea of using stuff that was in other people's mouths kinda grosses me out (I know they 'sanitize' the equipment, but still).
