SNL 50th Should Be Epic!

Thought Chappelle, who I generally don't like, was very good. Didn't care for any of the sketches much (or the musical guest but I am OLD). One very funny comment by Che on Weekend Update about Clinton's ship.

I'm old too. I have been an adult the entire time SNL has been on the air.
I have higher expectations for new SNL episodes that come after the show has been in reruns for weeks like this one was, especially given the mountain of world events they had to base material on. Yeah, the Clinton joke was clever, but my wife points out, it was a GENERATION ago he was President and had his issues, so it may have been lost on money viewers.

My husband & I thought Chapelle was hysterical. We were surprised his monologue was that long, but we haven’t laughed at SNL that much in a long time. The Sara Sherman bit in Weekend Update was awful. As usual, she was so busy laughing at herself it was just annoying.

I watched his monologue three times on Peacock and tears of laughter came every time. Dave Chappelle isn't for everyone, but he is for me. He can definitely go just a bit too far for my liking at times, but I do not care. I appreciate him being unapologetically himself.

Sitting here I am still laughing. Carl Winslow ... I can't even :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Clearly went over my head.

You have to have kept up with Diddy controversy, how Dave felt he was excluded from the freak offs, and who Carl Winslow is. He put it all together for you, but if you don't really pay attention to that news story or have a clue of Family Matters, then I can definitely see how it gets lost.

And, comedy is subjective.

Yeah.....Classic SNL material like
"Generalisimo Francisco Franco is still Dead"
and "We are from France"
probably would be lost on the younger audience members.

"Ladies and Gentlemen/SNL Music " debuts tonight at 8 EST on NBC.

THREE HOUR show!

The opening is said to be epic.

And the very first SNL musical Guest was....

the "fifth Beatle" Billy Preston.

I will set my DVR so I can fast forward to all the "highlights" from the years SNL really stunk.
Oh for the record, I am in the "Billy Preston is the fifth Beatle" club too. The other fifth Beatles are not Beatles.

Very historical in Greene demostrating that SNL is historical record.... last 10 minutes closing with 9/11, Simon struggle, mayor joke ...then the criminal... to demonstrate the struggle with the show and ALL personalities involved

Last night's music show was excellent! I missed the first minute or two...reached out to a friend to set her DVR because it had a clip of early Prince (huge fan)...and then remembered that I should set mine as well. I did it about halfway through but it recorded from the beginning. So, now I can rewatch for things I missed.

Hopefully I can find that episode. Didn't now it was this Monday. I was thinking it was in February. :(

February is for the whole show.

This was just for the Musical Guests.

I "think" it is currently only available on Peacock.
