Day 2 Post 4
We decided to leave a day earlier than planned because of flights being so erractic from NOLA and some yucky personal business that caused several of us to take off from school and work on that Thursday. We needed to start our vacation early.
At 2:00 pm, we left home and had an uneventful trip to Lake City, FL, where we decided to spend the night.
Since I was the last one sleeping, I was fair game for the rest of the family to wake up in an interesting way. Dh doing his best Star Wars Emperor voice named me pretty flower and commanded me to rise amid the giggles of the kids.
We all dressed in our matching t-shirts I made from Iron on transfers. We coined ourselves the nerd family and left for lunch.
After a lingering lunch, we were back on I-75 S headed for WDW in the car which blared Disney songs the entire time because we were so excited. Hey, we were already nerds, so who cared if we sang the Tiki Tiki Room very loudly and very badly.
We arrived at Pop Century right at 3 pm and did not have a long wait to get our room keys/ tickets. After dropping our stuff off to the room we headed to downtown Disney.
We found the buses easy to use, and at DD we wanted to eat at the Rain forest Café, but it had a 2 hour wait. We ate at Captain Jack's instead. DH and I liked it, but the tastes were too grown up for the kids. They were disappointed and started a bit of grumbling.
I told the kiddos we were at Disney, which is the happiest place on earth during the happiest celebration on earth, so if they were not happy, they needed to breathe deeper and sniff more pixie dust. Stitch replied okay, tinkerbelle Both the Sniff more pixie dust and tinkerbelle took on a life of their own. We visited lego land and the world of Disney where we got parts for our potato head bodies for us and my DM.
We made a grocery stop at the Walmart where we also picked up disposable cameras for the kiddos, a Mickey water bottle with a strap, and the most useful item (which I would find out later) a mickey fanny pack for me with a water bottle holder that was too small for our water bottle.
When we got back to the hotel, we bought pal mickey (which we enjoyed tremendously) and two refillable mugs. I ordered a wakeup call, and set the alarm clock for five minutes earlier. We all showered quickly and went to bed. It was after midnight and we were getting up early the next morning. Epcot future world was the plan for the next day.
