Okay so at my school we have to do a senior research project in order to graduate. My topic is basically how schools attract students. And my hypothesis is that you would look at a school because they have a program that you are interested in but you ultimately choose to go to that school because of the way it was presented to you through interactions with students, professors and admissions staff, and also through the website and brochures. So I know you probably chose your school because they have a great academic program, but so does every other college in America. So why did you REALLY choose that school out of the thousands around the country, or the couple that you applied to?

I chose my first school because it was the furthest away I could get from home while staying in state. I hadn't visited or even researched it much when I accepted.

I ended up moving back home and transferring because of some family/personal issues. I chose my second school because it was the second closest state school to home. I grew up by the closest one and it felt too much like high school haha.

So... really... I pretty much chose my schools based on location. And price, since they're both state schools. I didn't pay much attention to academic programs since I already knew they were respected schools.

I picked a school that was as far away from home as I could get and still be in-state. I'd had enough of my hometown and wanted to be able to go somewhere where nobody knew my name! Lol! The school, in fact, didn't have the program I wanted. But it did wind up having one other very important thing, my husband.

I chose my school based on a number of factors. I wanted a smaller school (< 10,000 students). I wanted someplace where undergraduates had lots of opportunities to interact with faculty. And I wanted someplace that allowed students to choose their own path. I felt I was mature enough to make my own decisions about what I wanted to study, and I didn't want the school to necessarily dictate the curriculum.
