We are new DVC members. Is it easy to sneak in an extra person or are they really particular about the whole process. We are new to this and can't afford a two bedroom place right now.

Uh Oh...
Let's just say that the rules of occupancy are clearly stated and leave it at that.
This topic has caused some ugly scenes in the past...

This is going to be closed immidiately.

Is that really how you teach your children to treat others?

Its also pretty easy to steal from some of the Epcot shops, just cut off the little sensor tags and have your kids leave the store with items you would prefer not to pay for.

If one of the children is under 3 years old, they don't count against the 4 person limit of a studio or 1BR.

If you have 5 over the age of 3, then the rules state that you would need a 2BR.

Hopefully, you didn't make this expensive purchase without thinking about this.

Also, the word "sneaking" in your thread title should provide the moral compass for the answer.

Ok on the level here. I think we can all understand your situation. If you make sure that you are by yourself and tell the rest of the party to leave you alone while you are waiting to check in and stay out of sight of the person helping you, then you should be ok. Just tell the person that you have two adults and two children. No one else has to know. Enough said. I feel for you guys and can see why you don't want to burn the extra points for one extra child.

Good luck

I understand cutting the sensor tags off that merchandise and having the kids spirit it from the store, I mean you spend enough money there and things are SO expensive.

I would wait until you have enough points for the space. Disney is testing a new program for Extra Hours at night in the parks. To participate each person needs a vaild resort ID. If you sneak someone in, they won't get a valid ID. Are you going to leave someone in the room while you enjoy these extra hours.

The topic of going over the limits is widely discussed on the Debate Board. The limits are 4 in a studio or 1 bedroom, 8 in a 2 bedroom and 12 in a GV. You are permitted an additional child under 3 (there is a pack n play in the room). DVC will not provide additional bedding or any type of rollaway/cot. You can take it from there....

Interesting, kinda sounds like you are planning a crime. I just could not go to all that deception.

If one of the 5 people is under the age of 3 and can therefore sleep in the Pack "N Play which is provided, then you are fine in a 1BR unit. If not, then you need a 2BR unit.

I've discovered a funny thing about kids, though. They get older...and a lot bigger.

Assuming you bought into DVC you really should think about an add-on.

:p Thanks for all your replies. The reason I used "sneaking" is to get your attention and that I did. We only have 4 in our family but there is a little girl (10 year-old (not a relative) who lives close by us whose mother passed away and she really has taken a liking to our family and wants to come with but we have our plans already made for a one bedroom. I am just wondering who I could possibly work this ahead of time. It looks like she will have to stay home this year anyway.

Why do I feel like there is a troll here?

Assuming you bought the minimum 150 points, you can still get a 2 bedroom unit. You may have to go at less pricey times of the year, or you may have to stay less nights than you want. You can also bank/borrow and do a really nice trip every other year. We have 4 kids and let me tell you having the 2 bedroom is a dream, especially as the kids get older and want their privacy. We only own 160 points ourselves, and while an add-on is definitely in our future, we make it work just fine for us, and we only travel when school is out. I would just not feel right telling my kids to hide or constantly worrying about someone catching us in our lie. Also, the kids grow up real fast so your plan will get harder and harder to work with each trip as they will each need a room key, etc.

You don't have to sneak. You will not be provided extra bed linen for the extra person, or extra towels, but the room occupancy limits are not a hard and fast rule for DVC. Please contact member services and ask them for yourself regarding your own situation.

This topic is fearcely debated on this forum, and thus has been deemed in appropriate for discussion on the DVC forum. That's why you see several posters thinking this thread will be closed. It has been relagated to the debate board since opinions vary and there is not a clear answer. You can see from some of the previous posts how riled up folks get and start playing games, calling names and making accusations. Ask member services for yourself regarding your own situation, they can provide official guidance for you.

Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks. We happened to already pick a peak time to go when all of our points for this year will be eaten up along with half of next year. We are going for 10 days. Next time we will go on an off-peak time. I won't be asking that question again nor probably any other. I appreciate your kindness Captain.

Minnesotamom,

Please don't be put off by some of the responses you received. Not everyone who owns DVC has an elitist attitude. I think taking a young child who lost their mother to visit Disney world is a wonderful gift. If you're comfortable with 5 in a one bedroom(spacewise), and if Disney gives you an answer your comfortable with then I would take her and enjoy the trip.

Disney isn't going to make you put her on a plane and send her back home, especially when you're paying for a park ticket and meals for her.

Have a great time.:D
