Sneakers for DD with Flat feet??

Interesting....
bolding is mine....
DD14 has almost flat feet...as close as you can get without being 'truly flat footed'. The therapist and the person who cast her feet for her $300+
orthotics (forget what his title was) said NO!! NO!! NO!! to Nike and Addidas. They really didn't even like New Balance. Of the brands available at chain stores Asics were the best choice, but there is a variance in them. You need to look for particular styles. Fortunately, my DD's Physical therapist went shopping with us to show us what to specifically look for and how they should fit.
Best of Luck!! When we went to a small chain store here in MD called Charm City Run and the ones they recommended were $150. :scared1: and the PT suggested that they be replaced every 4 to 6 months. :headache:

My daughter also has flat feet and she can only stand to wear the Asics Gel ones. They can be expensive but we generally find good deals on them at Kohls.

I spend 12 hours on concrete floors with my flat feet and the only sneakers that do not bother me are new balance! Life as a nurse... I wash them in the washing machine on a weekly basis... and they come out great!:thumbsup2

I have no arch at all so I went to a local bike/hiking/running store because I got tired of my feet and knees hurting from them turning in. The owner who is a triathlete recommended the Asics gel after he made me take my shoes off to really see how flat they were. They've been great. I just looked at the shoe and it is a GT-2130.

Shoe's are like cars. Each brand has several "models". A $40 pair of Nike's is not the same as a $140 pair of Nike's.

Everyone is right about going to a local store. Go to a local sports store that specializes in fitting shoes. You will probably end up paying over $100, but you will get the right shoe. I have terrible hip and knee issues and will only wear Brooks, but I can't wear their "cheap" model. Now that I know what model works for me I can find them pretty cheaply online. I've bought them from shoebuy.com, Shoe Metro and Amazon.

OP, I would agree with some of the PP's who have recommended taking your DD to someone who really knows what they're doing. Everyone's feet are different, so it would be well worth it to get your DD fitted properly. DH is a runner and has been going to the Running Company for shoes. A few years ago I finally got fitted there, after having arch issues, plantar fascitis, knee trouble, etc. The manager here in Lincoln is excellent. She looks at your feet and also watches how you walk, etc. and then recommends the right shoe. I had been a huge New Balance fan, but she converted me to a Brooks pair that I have just loved. (I'm due for replacement shoes, but I hate to part with these. They've been such great shoes!)

This summer we bit the bullet and took both DD's to the Running Company to be fitted for the first time right before our DL trip. DD(11) would typically be the one to end up with hurting feet at the parks, but not this time! No complaints from either daughter after tons of walking. :cool1: Normally, I'm all about bargains, but in this case, spending the extra $ was worth every penny. ::yes::

Superfeet available at REI...DD has a Conditioning Coach (for Fastpitch) who also is a sports medicine pt, and they noticed her rolling in her ankles, not enough arch support in her shoes. Sent us to REI for the Superfeet. While we were standing in line a number of people commented that they use them and they have helped. Plus, if I recall correctly REI has a lifetime warranty on them.

Just go to a running store - they'll fit her. However, as someone with flat feet (and a 9 year old who just got a pair of Converse), when I was younger, and not as dorky as I am now, I just wore cute sneakers. Now, I try to go for comfort (and spend the big $ at the running stores for my sneakers).

so true!! The Nike and Addidas shoes my husband and I buy are at LEAST $80, usually closer to $100. My husband can't wear any of the shoes he buys at places like Kohl's for running, or they do bother him.
