I was floored last night when I decided to "try" to get decent breakfast ressies for Chef Mickey's over Spring Break. We're staying at BLT and eating breakfast in the room every morning, but I decided that this is likely the last Disney trip for about 3 years (DH is starting law school in the fall and money will be tight) we need to try and do Chef Mickey's for breakfast. I typed in 4 for 8:30 and got the choice of 8:25 or 8:40. I couldn't believe it! I have tried on all of our last 3 trips to get breakfast reservations here and have been given the choice of 7 am or 11 am. Those were not reasonable times for us so I decided to forget it. I laughed at myself the entire time I was typing in the info because I NEVER thought I'd get a breakfast reservation during Spring Break when everyone and their mother is there. I'm a very happy camper and my kids will love it!

Now I'm trying to figure out how I got so lucky!

way to go!

I don't know what is going on, but it seems easier and easier to get reservations for Chef Mickey and for CRT for that matter.

We had Chef Mickeys on our "must do" list last trip then I read a lot of negative reviews on here. We did it anyway. I hate to say it but we were so unimpressed. Of all the character breakfast we've done, this is the one we will not do again. I've heard Mickey no longer goes to the tables but takes a picture with you out front after you check in. Someone correct me on this if I am wrong. The character interaction wasn't great and I was less than impressed with the food. Word of mouth might be why it's easier to get. I guess it's not as impressive as it used to be.

Donald's safari breakfast has almost the same characters, has amazing food, and the interaction at the tables and the musical parade with instruments through the restaurant was much more fun.

CRT is expensive and the food is just mediocre. It's been fairly easy to get for a while. When we went in August, I got both these ADRs less than 3 months out and thought it was a miracle. It was fun, and I think a must do just for the experience of eating in the castle. We did it once and that was enough, nothing great enough about it for us to do it a 2nd time.

Our personal favorites are Donald's Safari breakfast for the reasons above, Breakfast with Pooh at Crystal Palace (good food and we get an early ADR and get in before the crowd for GREAT pics with no one else around), and the Storybook breakfast at Akershus in EPCOT for the same reasons as the Crystal Place. We have fanastic pictures of my son in an empty EPCOT. the only people we saw from the time we entered the gate until we go to the Norway section was 2 groundskeepers!

There is a reason Chef Mickey's has become so much easier to get. Think about that before you get too excited.

ETA: I agree with the PP, Tusker House is eons better. Cape May is also 1000 times better than Chef Mickey's. As is Crystal Palace.

We did Chef Mickey's for the 1st time on our last trip in Sept/Oct 2010. I'm not the greatest eater for breakfast so for me the waffles and pancakes and fruit were more then fine. My husband on the other hand LOVED it!! He loves breakfast food soooo much and he ate EVERYTHING they had. Mickey DOES still come to your table. We had also read that you now take a picture with him before walking in, and this is true, BUT it's a statue that you have the option to take a picture with and buy later. Mickey still came to our table and took pictures. My 1yr son and 2yr old daughter loved the whole thing! It's on our to do list on our April trip this year.

No matter what you're going to get mixed reviews about the food and experience since everyone has their own opinion. For us, we really enjoyed it and will be doing it again. If you haven't done it before I suggest definitely keeping it and doing it once. If you don't like it you know for the next time.

I hope this helps and you have a wonderful time!!

I got a breakfast ADR at CRT just over 2 months out for begining of March. I was so shocked by this that I booked it even though I wasn`t sure I wanted it! It used to be that you had to get up early to book it 180 days before. It turns out I am cancelling it today since we have been there for luch before and I just can`t justify paying the $164 for 2 adults and 2 children. Too expensive! And that`s just BREAKFAST!!!
