Snag with Online Check-In

I just hit a snag with online check-in. We have 2 DVC accounts because we bought resale points in 2 different months. When I booked my latest trip I had to use points from both accounts, paying for 4 days with one set of points and the last day with the other set. When I checked my reservation status at DVCmember.com, my check-in date was listed as Nov. 1. My vacation actually begins on Oct. 28. I called member services and told them the problem and the CM I talked to said that's a problem they're aware of, so I'm not the first to encounter it. I might not be able to use online check-in for this trip because my check-in date online is listed as November 1. I hate that, because it was such a time saver when we checked into BCV earlier this month.

The CM did tell me to try mydisneyreservation.com/DVC and enter the first confirmation number, so we'll see if that works. Just thought I'd share this story in case there are others out there like us.

That's strange, I had the same issue on my past vacation (linked reservation between 2 memberships) and I was able to check in online. At the DVC members only website, I just clicked on the first reservation and checked in that way. I was a little worried that they only had the days for that confirmation listed. But when I called MS, they reassured me that the resort knows that I am staying longer and I don't need to recheck in for each confirmation number. That made sense.

Maybe, I'm not understanding your situation correctly. I guess I don't understand why you couldn't check in with the confirmation number starting Oct 28th. Was it not available at the DVC members website?

I can, however, understand not being able click the check in online button for cash reservations since they are not listed on your vacation details. But in that case, it does provide you the option of changing the reservation number when you click on the check in online button.

I also have our trip booked under 2 different member numbers and use years. I asked Member services about this the other day and was told to use the comfirmation number for the first night on online check in because the reservations are linked and it should be fine. I will give it a try?

The on-line check-in website was made for CRO Guests and DVC just uses it. Many of the issues unique to the DVC aren't addressed by the check-in software. I would wait and check-in in person.

Honestly, I don't think the online check-in service is all that great of a thing. I used it last week at Kidani and it was really no quicker than when I've checked in normally at other resorts. And in my case, they neglected to code my reservation as an express check out (I was informed I would get it though). I don't ever recall that happening before. I even entered a "celebration" event online and no one even asked about it at anytime during my stay.

In the end, you still have to go to the front desk to get your key and packet. Yes, it's already printed out and, yes, you might be able to skip a longer line but it's still the same routine pretty much. And for it to still require a manual option for a CM to tell it express check-out is just plain odd.

I probably won't bother next time.

:confused3

I agree with PP no real advantage to online check in. We won't use it next time.

No. The only thing showing up on the DVCmember.com site is our 11/1 reservation. That's why I was concerned.

We used online check-in at BCV earlier this month and it literally took less than 5 minutes. Our packet was ready, room was ready, keys were ready. There was a crowd of people on the other side of the desk and no one on the side for online check-in. Having already checked in saved us from waiting in that line. I would definitely use it again and hope I can.

That is definitely unsettling.

Hopefully, they can straighten that out for you before you have the opportunity to check in.

We checked in online as well for our past vacation (March) and it wasn't as convenient as I hoped. When we got there, there was no one in line for regular check in and because I wasn't sure where the online check in area was, I went up to the regular check in and asked. They directed me to the counter on the side and there was no one there. When I got there, she called someone over to help me. I don't know why she couldn't have just gone over, there were still no one in the line.:confused3 When someone came to help, he said that the had to go and print out the "keys". The folder wasn't even ready, he had to go find it somewhere. I did arrive after the time I specified that we would be arriving, so that's not the problem. There was no one there, so it wasn't even busy.:confused3

And, although I'm not sure if this is the reason or not, we didn't get a great room. It was on an upper floor (as we requested:)) but with a view of the laundry area (we requested a garden view). I wasn't too thrilled with the view, but found that it was absolutely the quietest hallway we have ever experienced. So that was a plus.
