Snacks?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if I could get a list of what the dining plan considers snacks? I asked on the Disney site live chat, and the person left me on hold for awhile and came back with only "things like ice cream or a piece of fruit." Hmm. I'm wondering what else is on that list: like bakery? Or what if you go to a counter service restaurant and just want some fries instead of a whole meal (such as burger and fries)? Can you list some things that would be considered snacks (bagels, fruit, ice cream bars, popcorn, bag of chips, candy??...)? Thank you!!

there are hundreds of items in each park that you can use your snack options on. I think WAY too many people waste those options on 20oz drinks, etc.

There's a sticky at the top of this forum entitled "2014 Confirmed Snacks." He keeps it updated, so you can know if something is still or been added to the list.

Do you get a soft drink (or any other drink) with your snack? Or does a drink use up your snack credit?

If you want a soft drink with your snack, you will need to use another snack credit or pay OOP.

Also when you are there, anything that counts as a snack will have the special DDP snack symbol on the menu/signage. There are a lot of great value items - those that cost $4-5 - but better to use the credits on SOMETHING rather than get too concerned with the best bang for your buck.

There are tons of fun sweet things (my fave is Candy Cauldron or any of the sweet shops), but there are savory ones as well. There are breadsticks with sauce @Pinocchio, fries/rings/chili @Pecos Bill, and lots of small meal type items in Epcot like sushi, curry chicken, and German potato salad.

One option that surprised me was fried rice at Yak & Yeti in AK. Cheap way to eat lunch with only a snack credit.

Thanks for all the responses! I hadn't noticed the sticky *saves to faves* Also, I guess my confusion has been that although the symbol appears by the items, I was wondering how you know it's a snack and not counting as a counter service meal?

Do they ask how many snack credits you wish to use, or do they assume that you'll pay for all items with credits unless you specify otherwise?

Also, when paying for some items with snack credit(s), do they automatically apply the credit(s) toward the most expensive items? Or do you have to ask?

I would say you need to be VERY specific when you order as to what you want as a snack credit and what is OOP. They will honor your wishes, but if you don't tell them, they'll do whatever is easiest for them.

Any food item at a Food and Wine Festival kiosk. Best way in my opinion to use them :)

I agree!!! However, there are a few things to look at the price on, we never burned a snack credit on anything under $3. Best F&W for us was the Lobster Shepherds pie, best snack credit ever!! Favorite new find, was the Apple blossom with soft serve and caramel sauce at Trilobites in AK. On weight alone it gets my vote! ;)
