I am so new to this Disney world process... We are going to fly southwest and a direct flight .. So I was thinking of checking the two bags and one would be all food.. Snacks.. Cups.. Suntan lotion?? Is that a good idea?? What kind of food?.. We are thinking of getting stuff delivered to our resort from garden grocer? And we know about the bad water? So definitely bottled water!! Any suggestions?? We will be staying for 10 days !!

Moved to the Disney Tips board.

Sent from my Nook using DISBoards.
No autocorrect- all misspellings are my own!

I take it you won't have a car? With the cost of checking extra baggage, would you consider placing an order with Green Grocer and having it delivered? Just a thought.

We found good snacks to carry around ....granola/cereal bars, assorted crackers, peanut butter (Those neat individual packs), fruit, and string cheese. Good luck, and have fun!

since we will be flying southwest checked bags up to two are free per person
so it wouldnt be expensive that way!

We always fly SWA and love our 2 free bags each!

Last year we were there 8 nights and packed lots of food. We brought cereal for breakfast and bought 1/2 gallons of milk at the resort (remember the fridges may not be working yet depending on when/where you travel). We had lots of Fiber One type bars, great for snacks or a quick breakfast on the way to the park. Those cheese and cracker packs were a big hit too. DD loved fruit snacks and they did well in the heat at the park. Grandma packed a lot of those Belvita bars. We also took goldfish, small packs of cookies, pop tarts.

We didn't mind the water but we took a filter bottle with us just in case. When it was empty it wasn't bad to carry around and I can't see us lugging a dozen full water bottles through the park each day.

I am also planning on checking a bag that has mostly snacks & breakfast items. Here is what I'm planning:
Pop-tarts
Bagels
Peanut butter
Easy Mac
Peanut butter & crackers
Cereal

My thought is once we eat the food we'll have an extra bag for souvenirs!

We're flying American and its going to be $25 per luggage...ouch! I was looking into shipping snacks to the resort from Office Depot or Staples, but they didn't have a good selection and the items were in bulk 64 bags of chips etc... So I was considering taking everything in a second luggage but didn't want to pay the extra $25. To check. I ended up buying the snacks that I want and shipping it to the resort myself. It ended up costing around $15, but I only have to pay that one way vs having to buy the $25 both ways if I brought an extra luggage to check. I shipped handi-snacks, pirates booty, assorted chips, fruit snacks, and candy.

We usually take granola bars, mini cereal boxes, fruit snacks, pretzels, pop tarts, gum (can't buy on property), dum-dum suckers and smarties. We also place an order through Garden Grocer (trying personal shopper for October trip, though) for grapes, apple slices and baby carrots (we bring zip lock bags from home). We save so much money by taking these items with us as opposed to buying (or using snack credits on them) there!

I have 2 smal children and a husband who loves to snack, here's our list:
Squeezable apple sauce pouches
Annies instant mac and cheese
individual bags of goldfish or annies
Granola bar
meal replacement bars
Fruit snacks
Protein Powder
Milk boxes (like juice boxes but milk instead)
Water bottles
Peanut butter
Instant oatmeal
Trail mix
Dried fruit

We will probably ship most of it to our resort from Amazon just because I hate keeping track of multiple suitcases, kids, and strollers.

I am interested in your last sentence, have you had success ordering from Amazon directly to your resort? DO you have to know the resort room number and will Disney accept packages on your behalf? How far in advance do your order? thanks.

I would definitely consider shipping all of that (esp the water) or just getting grocery delivery once there...I have dragged all kinds of food with me to WDW and wished I hadn't...didn't eat even half of it and certainly wasn't going to fly it all back home...

Speaking of water...I didn't find the WDW water to be all that bad...we also brought drink powders to add but so much better than carrying heavy water bottles around. I am trying to turn over a new leaf and learn to pack light. have a great trip!

You send it to your resort with GUEST written clearly. Then your name, reservation number and arrival date. They will accept and hold packages up to 2 weeks before your arrival. My arrival date is 8/25 and I'm preparing to ship my stuff 8/9
