I do! Churro cravings are a beast

I have churro cravings, but the closest place to get one here in Australia is over 600 miles away!

I was just wondering if anyone just goes to DL for a churro, dole whip or similar and some people watching without going on any of the rides. Sounds like fun to me, but I live in Australia so wouldn't have time to do just this.

When I lived locally it was common to go for a treat, a spin on POTC, the parade, and then go home. I miss those days.

Great thread. I'm coming down from Seattle for a solo trip next week. Essentially I'm doing a day of work meetings then taking 3 days off to play in the parks.

I love DL, I've been 5 times starting when I was 8 years old (now 35), so Disneyland Park is not new to me, but California Adventure 2.0 is. I'm also looking forward to the Halloween decor, etc. While I plan to hit CA pretty thoroughly and hope to do all of Disneyland Park, I'll be back with the rest of my family in November, so my focus now is on really taking some leisurely time to stop and smell the roses, particularly in Disneyland Park. I love the history of the park, the many little secrets, and I love to people watch. This will be my first solo trip so I figure it's the perfect opportunity to take the parks at my own pace. If I miss a ride or even a land, I'll be back in November with the rest of my family.

That is a long set-up for two questions:

1) Where is your favorite spot to sit back and people watch in either park (but probably more so in Disneyland Park), and

2) For you regulars who may take DL at a more leisurely pace and aren't so concerned with running from attraction to attraction, what are your favorite things to do? Any nooks or crannies or side attractions/shows that I should particularly consider?

I'm excited to go to DL and NOT worry constantly about how long the lines are. I think this leisurely thing is gonna be fun.

I love to do this for at least hours during our trip if we are there more than 2-3 days.
I love to get mickey beignets and a mint julep and hang out at the French Market and watch the sun set and the lights come up.

We also have a tradition to get an ice cream on the last night at the park and sit in the tables for Carnation Cafe and watch people leave the park until it is time to leave.
We also did this at Jolly Holiday one night our last trip. We got a treat and coffee and watched the crowds filter out.
We love it.
I look forward to it every trip. Just to soak it all in.

The hub is lined with park benches and I really enjoy sitting and watching all the people while I have a drink or snack. Also in NOS, right before you get to Hm there is a pretty shaded area under a big tree. It's nice and cool on a hot day. Have a great time!

Last trip to DL I was 26 weeks pregnant and I actually sat in tomorrow land outside buzz and people watched while my DH rode space and star tours it's a very busy spot and great to people watch wasn't uncomfortable at all

When we visit from New Zealand I LOVE people-watching - it has to be one of the best places in the world to do it! The family groups all dressed alike, little girls in princess outfits, huge guys in mouse ears - it's all fabulous!
I get my fix while DH and our two boys ride California Screamin' or the Tower of Terror (I'm not so keen on those two!) at DCA or the teacups at DL.
An aside - do you Aussie DIS-ers know there is a Downunder DIS board? - it's over in Global Neighbours, under the WDW section - come on over and say 'Gidday' sometime!

My wife and I do this quite a bit anymore when we go! It's VERY FUN and relaxing!

Our new favorite spot to relax and watch the park go by is Cafe Orleans patio, with a basket of pomme frites and a soda.

Not usually, because we only make it there every 2-3 years, but my Dad would love to live there so he could have an AP and just hang out there in the evenings. The last few trips we would tease him that he's the only person we know that will spend $70 a day in admission to just sit on a bench and eat his Dole Whip...
