I think I understand the dining plan so far but I had this one question. What are considered "snacks" for this category? I asssume ice cream but what else.

A guy was talking to DH yesterday about how on his final day he had all these snack credits left because he didnt understand the dining plan and so on the last day him and his family bought a bunch of snacks and used some on the plane and then threw the rest in their luggage. So I was wondering what they could have bought?

Thanks

I haven't even been to WDW, but I have this brochure in my Favorites.

Seems pretty specific in the section discussing the Snacks, and also has a list of places to buy them!

There are tons of threads in the Dining section about snack credits. They have their favorite snacks etc..Personally I used snack credits for breakfast ( you can get a box of doughnuts at the gift shop for one credit) or a pastry etc. OR I use snack credits for treats for my daughter to get something special, a tub of cotton candy in the gift shop or a pack of lollipops. That way she is able to get something in the 8 million shops you walk through without me having to spend money. Good Luck and have fun!:thumbsup2

Thanks I am printing this brochure.

DH has insisted that if he is to go on vacation that he will have a full breakfast each day. So there you go. No really that is pretty much all he is requesting so I dont think I can argue with that.

last year we went and had the free dining --- also we had lots of snacks left over so we went to the resort restaurant on the last day and bought things like trail mix, rice krispies treats (shaped like MM), nuts and the such and took them home with us. But you can also buy soda, water and a large variety of snacks while there --

it was our first time using free dining and guess we didn't really understand what snacks we could get so we had left over and someone told us we could use them up buying stuff like pretzels and candy and nuts to take for trip home - worked for us ---- but this year when we go i think i will try to use them up at the parks and take advantage of the drinks and treats there

With all the reading and planning I did prior to our trip- you would think I would have had this all figured out. But when we got to the park it was still overwhelming. I didn't want to be that person that held up the line not knowing what the heck was going on...but I still was. By the last day we had enough snacks left for everyone to have 3 in the one day!

You can get a beverage, piece of fruit, ice cream, chips, popcorn and a bunch of other stuff and most places will tell you what is a snack. You can also get three snacks and use it like a counter service meal. We used them a few times for breakfast for our DD. We could get a thing of cereal, a banana and milk and make it her breakfast. In all honesty I have used the DDP 2 times and most of our snacks have been used for drinks. You get so much food at your meals you just don't get that hungry, but you are of course always in need of hydration in the heat. I also always carry small snacks in my bag because the kids always seem to get hungry in the middle of a ride line, so it's not to practical to use a snack just then. Hope that helps!

Yes very helpful! I thought the same thing about kids getting hungry when it isnt convienet! I guess we will just roll with it!

I hear you there! We ate more food on that vacation than we ever do!

Items that are eligible to be bought w/snack credits will have a special snack symbol by them on the menu. Most will cost your $4 or less. The symbol is a purple and white checkered square with DDP and a picture of a drink in the squares. (see in the pdf linked in a pp under the "Snacks" heading).

We did this once too! We were staying at All Stars that trip. There is just three of us so we didn't eat the whole box and what was left over was left in our room. When we got back, we found a bunch of little ants having a snack off of it. I guess we should have put them in a ziplock baggie or something! Just fyi... :)

If you dont eat a big breakfast I recommend it being used for breakfast. We did it last year and it saved us alot of money. I also like to use it for a bottle of watter every now and then because I hate carrying anything more than I have to in my backpack.
