Oldest DS is flying out to the Boy Scouts Jamboree tomorrow morning. He'll be flying into Charleston WV. He flew there last year and says they didn't have anything but vending machines in the airport. Not a usually big deal except he'll be there for two hours waiting for his shuttle. He'd like to take some beef jerky and some trail mix. Would these be a problem to get thru security? The packages would be factory sealed.

ANything that's not liquid is fine. You can actually pack a lunch - We usually bring bagels as they transport well, plus a cheese stick, some goldfish and a sweet and that's what we bring for lunch on plane trips. Send some money so he can purchase a drink out of the vending machines.

The gift shop at the Charleston WV airport has sandwiches, snacks and drinks available for purchase. It is on the "secure" side of the security checkpoint. The snack bar and restaurant in the airport is also near the security checkpoint, but can only be entered from the "unsecured" side.

Food is not a problem with domestic travel, I almost always pack a lunch with airline travel. He can also bring an EMPTY water bottle and fill it at a drinking fountain after he gets past security.

Thanks guys!

He said that he knew about the gift shop snacks but last time he couldn't get to it as it was on the secure side of the airport.

He's decided he's going to take some Clif bars and some granola bars.
