Snacks in a suitcase?

We are flying down and I want to check a small bag with snacks and breakfast items for the room and use the bag for gifts on the return trip. I know no liquids but will dry goods be ok?

Thanks!

I packed snacks and waters. I made sure the waters were in ziploc bags and cushioned. None of the luggage was searched. All went well.

There should be no problem unless you go over the airline's weigh limit.

We've been doing this for years. Some of the trickier/more fragile items I pack in my carryon. Never any problem.

:flower: Thanks! I may try the water thing! How many did you pack? Trying to save where we can!

Why no liquids? Is it an airline rule or is there some other reason? I'm just asking because I was planning on packing soy milk in the tetra boxes when we go. Will they be okay?

We have always packed a suitcase full of dry goods. We pack poptarts, cereal, fruit roll-up snacks, vanilla wafers, peanut butter---ALL kinds of stuff. It has always been fine.

If liquids break open, they will ruin your clothes and possibly the clothes of others whose luggage ended up near you. There are steps you can take to reduce the risk, but by the time you have two layers of ziploc with bubble wrap in between, you'd have been better off with it in your carryon. Consider shipping it (don't know what shipping is like from Canada), doing a grocery stop, or having wegoshop pick up your liquids and perishables.

They were pretty miffed that their liquid detergent bottle was broken, with no apologies to the people whose luggage it had spilled over. I was thankful that it was only soap, but it still stained, since we didn't do any laundry that trip. Why couldn't they have been a DIS member, and gotten the dry tablets... Regardless, I always pack some snacks in my luggage, usually in an empty baby wipes container, to protect the crushable stuff. You might want to consider a filtered (refillable) water bottle, like Brita, instead of cases of water. It will be easier to carry in the parks, and you could fill it with ice in the AM from the machines at the hotel.

Thanks, I never even thought about it breaking open, since they don't exactly handle your suitcases gently sometimes. I think with six of us flying I'm sure one of us can manage to pack some milk in their carry ons. I plan on ordering down there but my kids are very picky about their type of soy milk.

I had also planned on bringing some liquid laundry soap. I'm glad I've read this thread, I wouldn't want to be responsible for ruining anyone's belongings.

I want to warn you, I checked a large cosmetic bag(you know the smallest bag you usually get in a luggage set) filled with candy and snacks, and other food items on our trip home from our Easter WDW visit. That was all that was in there. The bag never made our plane. I ended up getting it the next day. I think they said besides being x rayed it had to be hand searched. Please just be aware of that(so you might have to wait for the bag)...btw our flight from alb to mco I had more food etc, in a 20" rolling bag, and it went through no problem.

When we went in June, we took a 24 pack of water. We took an extra suitcase for it and we stayed at Boardwalk DVC so we were able to keep the water cold and take a couple with us to deal with the hot central florida sun and save us from buying water everyday. We also bought bread so we could make PB&J sandwiches for lunch. It worked out well since we had to go on a tight budget. It was also made easier though through the DVC experience.

Just got home Sunday from WDW. We ordered our bottled water from Staples and had it delivered FREE directly to our resort!

They have 24-bottle cases for $5.59 ~ and if you join Staples Rewards Club (sign up for free) they'll ship it for free.

You just list the shipping address as your resort address and tell the Staples phone operator to put your check in date on there.

When we arrived at our resort, our reservation had a note that we had a package waiting.... and sure enough, there was our water. It saved time and money!!!

Especially during the summer, you should carry on anything that would melt or have problems in the heat. Sometimes the bags sit on the tarmac for quite some time...
