Does anyone know if any of the gift shops at the DLH have like chips, candy, pop, water, milk, etc. to purchase and take and store in your room. We don't have a car and would rather stay a way from the taxi thing if at all possible? Thanks.

I don't recall seeing that in the gift shops, but there's a coffee shop in the courtyard that sells that kind of thing, as well as pastries and coffee.

We stopped by a grocery store shortly after arrival and picked up some snacks and water to keep in our room for the week. I have no idea what is saved us, but with water bottles costing around $3 in the park, I'm sure it was a bundle. :)

Yes, the coffee shop has a lot of bakery items as well as sandwiches, milk, cereal, bananas and some other fruit, drinks, etc.. They are really nice there and let me fill up a cup with half and half to take back to my room so I could use the coffeemaker. Don't get a brownie there though or you will have to get one each night as they are addicting!

The sundries shop, next to the big gift shop in the Marina Tower has bags of pretzels, cookies, soda and some other goodies as well.

In DTD there are a ton of places to pick up stuff for the room as well. We found that the Compass Bookstore right at the end closest to DLH had the biggest bottles of milk for the cheapest prices and they also stayed open later than the coffee shop at DLH.

we planned to bring home gifts, so we packed one suitcase full of snacks and drinks. When it was all used up at the end of the week, we had space for our gifts to get home! The ultimate cheap-o's... I know. :thumbsup2

I know they sell small bags of Chip N Dale pretzels and there are coke machines in the hallways. As far as milk, not sure, however there is a small store called Compass Books (I think) right near the DLH on DTD that sells milk and juice. And Krispy Kreme Donuts ;) !

Also, if you need a lot of things, I believe Albertsons delivers.

Thanks for the tips. We were planning on taking one empty suitcase except for some water, snacks, etc. I was curious to find out if there were places to pick up milk, pop, etc. Thanks guys. Hey you aren't cheap, we are doing it too. I call it creative packing...........ha.ha.

That's so me...I'm the only person I know who brings food with me on vacation. I've even passed this trait unto my daughters. Last year, I had a migraine that sent me to the emergency room. My DD packed a bag for the wait that included books and snacks...what a hoot.

I'm the same, I took a 1/2 case of water and a bottle of wine, not to mention lots of snacks. Once it's gone, then you can pack all the stuff you buy, my mother thinks I'm crazy, but it works....

I live in North Pole I wonder what the airport authoritzie's think of that.lol I am going to try to bring my own water now

What an wesome idea. We usually do the one suitcase inside of another and then pack that but I really like the idea of packing snacks in it. It really doesn't apply to us flying to DL because we drive but when we go to WDW I'm going to do that. Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

We check the bag that it is in so it really should not be a problem. We are going to pack granola bars, chips, beef jerky, fruit chewys, cups of mac and cheese (coffee pot in room makes hot water.....), etc.

taking time for breakfast on a dl morning is not in our time schedule. so to get my troops up and moving. (9 of us). i bought mochas and bagels at the dlh coffee shop. cost me over $50. the next morning i ordered room service omelets for 4 and made them split them. almost the same cost. more nourishing. and plenty to get the morning going until that 1st churro! we had packed water and soda.

I know you can also get the local Albertson's to deliver to your room at the DLH. I am not sure of the minimum amount though in order to deliver.

I know theres an ABC store down Harbor and Katella. Theres also a 7-11 on Katella and Anahiem, a bit farther....

hope that helps...

another person who always packs snacks. When my DD was little we always traveled with a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter :).

Been there, done that! Thankfully dd now eats a wide variety of foods. But for years I travelled with the pb, then some smart person invented uncrustables that made life much easier the last couple of our "peanut butter years"! I still travel with food and water bottles and I still get made fun of by family and friends. Who when they travel with us are quite happy to mooch off my stash!

I live on churros and popcorn when I am there......they should sell churros at EE as a quick breakfast option ....a long doughtnut:banana:

Whatever happen to Churros and popcorn :(

Best Snacks EVER!
We brought snacks AND we bought snacks! :rotfl:
Brought in snacks in the a.m., mainly to keep the kids from getting too hungry before lunch. If they (or we) wanted a snack in the afternoon, but what we had wasn't appealing, we bought something.

I didn't buy as many different park snacks as I expected, though. We tried the Dole Whip and the Dole Whip Float (I MUST have a Dole Whip again on our next trip!) Also had some popcorn during the fireworks, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. Didn't try churros because we had a tough, rubbery one at Costco once; they looked the same at DL, wasn't appealing at all. Next time, though, I may have to try one just so I can say I met Albort!
