DH and I have been discussing food at each of the countries at World Showcase. Given our background, we have said we have to do lefse in Norway. We thought a snack at each would be great, although probably unrealistic. :rotfl: But what would you recommend?

I have to recommend the caramel shop in Germany! Oh my is that stuff good. :cool1:
They have so many items to choose from. You can find pictures of them in the food thread....makes your mouth drool.

The selections in the bakery in France are to die for! :cloud9:

We would get something from every country and share it. you get to taste everything you want

Definitely the ham and cheese croissant in the bakery in France. And the pastries are fabulous too. There's lots to choose from in Norway. And the new CS in Mexico looks like they have lots of snacks. Germany has pretzels, brats, and candy. We love to try and get a seat in the Rose and Crown bar (hard to do, though) or a standing spot at the bar and enjoy the cheese plate. China has good spring rolls and dumplings. There's plenty to find, and like a PP said - just share, the portions aren't huge, so you can taste lots of stuff. Sort of what we do with drinks in every country, too!

This last trip, I tried gelato from Italy and a pastry from Morocco - both great. I'd love to try an ice cream crepe in France!

My mom and I did Snacks Around the World, in lieu of Drinks Around the World, since she is not a drinker.

We split something at about half of the countries and drank a lot of water.......

The Napolean at Boulangerie Patisserie
The Strawberry Kaki Gori at Japan
School Bread at Kringla Bakeri
Baklava at Morocco
Funnel cake at American Adventure

I must admit I had a gran marnier slush in France and a margarita in Mexico; my two favorites....

For us there's nothing like a cold beer and warm, soft pretzel in Germany...... I wish I was there right now!

We do the same thing and do this instead of meals! Although it's really hard because there are soooo many good food options at Epcot!

This is one of my favs too! Although the last time we were there I had the frozen cherry lemonade drink instead of the beer and it is my new favorite! I like it way more than the grey goose slushie!

I'm not a big snacker, so I don't "snack around the world". But the pastry shop in France always gets me one way or the other. Can't zero in on any one thing, but the chocolate mousse has never let me down. Or the Napoleon.

Now you're talking. We always make time for pretzels and maybe even a beer. 4 weeks (or so) and I'm there.

Also, we always stop and get guacamole at the quick service La Catina de San Angel there on the water. It is the really good.

the little crab tostadas from la cava del tequila were wonderful. i also agree with the bakeries in norway and france. i also love love love the goat cheese on the cheese plate from the french bakery. my sister and i took our daughters and did a snack around the world one year since the girls weren't yet old enough to drink and had a great time doing it...we shared a single item at each stop so we actually got to try quite a bit. we'd skipped breakfast and did this for our lunch. we had a great time.

Skip the lefse! My daughter and I were excited to try real authentic Norwegian lefse, and it was not as good as what we make at home each Christmas.:lmao: That being said, the school bread and almond pretzels were fabulous!!!:thumbsup2

I'm planning of grabbing a Scotch Egg in England. :thumbsup2 Not a huge sausage fan but I just have to say the idea of this intrigues me to no end. LOL I'll probably hate it, but at least I'm going to try. I also plannto try the hummus, etc in Tangiers. I like hummus and I'm interested in the regions food as long as I can find things that don't have onions anyway, or raisins, or peppers....:headache:.

With multiple food issues and my intense hatred of onions I'm a big ole chicken about trying things.

However I'm bound and determined to try some new things, and to make it real food not just desserts, because there are always easy choices for sweets. Of course I'm going to eat some desserts...just going to try some food as well.
