Snacking before Late Dinner?

I'm wondering if people generally snack in the late afternoon if they have the 8:15 dinner seating. 8:15 does seem pretty late, so what are the snack options between lunch and late dinner? Or are you so busy changing into dinner clothes and going to the show that there's no time for a bite? I know my DS can handle the late dinner, but I know he'll need some kind of munchies in there to tide him over. Just trying to see what everyone esle does!

My twinkie and I got lunch at 2 on castaway cay, swam and snorkeled and did pelican's plunge, at 4:30, came back and got in line for Aquaduck. Then we went to flos and had several pcs of pizza and some chicken tenders. It was perfect. Took some rum n coke to the show, took photos at the princess gathering and played some trivia and then went to dinner at 8:15. by then, we were ready.

Also room service runs 24 hrs a day but has a delay so keep that in mind. I loved late dining.

Room service is available at no additional charge (you should tip). Lot's of food available on the pool deck chicken fingers, fries, wraps, fruit.

For our family we aren't really that hungry by dinner because we eat a big breakfast about 9-9:30. big lunch 1:00- 1:30 so eating at 8:15 is not that bad.

Relaxing with a snack and a drink while getting ready is my favourite part of having late dining.

Cheese and cracker tray, or a sandwich/soup from room service or something from the fast food place...they tend to have some great fresh fruit and they also have Panini sandwishes and salads and of course there is always the Mickey Bar from room service!!!

There is a room service menu in the hardcover book on the desk.

We usually have a snack between 4-5pm - my DH and I usually share something - my favorite is the panini and french fries or the chicken strips - all available on the pool deck. We also like to order the cheese platter and chocolate chip cookies from room service. We get ready for dinner after our snack and head for the show.

We definitely got a snack before dinner. After a full day of swimming and snorkeling, we were hungry! We would get back on board and grab something from Flo's, shower, change and head to the show or the kids would go to the clubs. There are plenty of choices for a quick bite to tide you over! :goodvibes

We order the cheese and crackers just about each night as we get dressed to head out to the show.
:thumbsup2

OK, cool. Sounds like there are lots of options. I just don't want my 8 year old to get crabby from low blood sugar around 6 pm! :)

This is pretty much our "pre dinner" ritual as well.... :yay:

Yep. We always get the All Hands on Deck Fruit and Cheese platter from room service. We snack on it while we are getting ready before the nights entertainment. Always good. Sometimes I might get a BLT and fries. No worries, lots of options for you to choose from

Cruises are famous for more food than u can shake a stick at...

My worry is filling up on junk during the show and not being hungry for dinner. I like the idea of eating something prior to the show and not eating while watching it.

When DD was little (3 to 5 years-ish), we had late dining once or twice. I would go back to the stateroom with her late afternoon (4:00-ish), get her bathed and put her down for a nap. I'd order a snack from room service, then get showered and dressed while she napped. By 6:30-ish, we were off to the early show and then dinner. :thumbsup2 There's no way we would have made it until 8:15 dinner without that snack!

Whenever me and the DW are on a cruise we normally have a snack after we get back on the boat after a day on the islands to hold us to dinner(we need something to help us with our drinks).

You can eat during the show?

yes, you can bring snacks to the show...they also sell snacks right outside the theatre. They do tend to discourage food like burgers, chicken strips, fries, etc. as the smell can be distracting/annoying to other guests. But candy, popcorn, etc. they sell.

Oh, cool. That's good to know, too. Awesome! IS the popcorn as good as WDW popcorn?

The popcorn isn't freshly popped -- it's packaged.

I do wish the snacks sold outside the theatre were not wrapped in cellophane or whatever -- the noise is annoying (annoiseing?) -- more distracting than the smell of the hamburgers/fries.

My personal choice was grabbing a cup of ice cream before going to the cabin to get ready for the shows/dinner.
