When I was at WDW this past week (10/10-10/18) I found I was not able to buy any multiple serving items.

That means no big bags of pretzels, no boxes of donuts etc. Everything has to be single serving.

This is not at the CM discretion - the cash registers state invalid entitlement (or something to that effect) if you try to ring up a multiple serving item. There is no way the CM can override the system to allow these items any more. (I also tried to get a box of Mickey Mac N Cheese and that wouldn't go through either)

I ended up bringing home 16 stupid big lollipops. :headache: In previous years I was able to buy the bags of goldfish type crackers (Mickey shaped) and bags of the small graham character cookies.

we used them for rice crispy mickeys and then my daughter used them for treats for her classroom:thumbsup2

This policy (single serving snacks only) has been in effect since January 2008.

Well, sorry for wasting space. I looked in quite a few places and never saw this mentioned.

I don't think Nala was being snarky to you - just letting you know the policy has been changed for a long time. There's also a sticky at the top of the this board with confirmed snacks.

We used the dining plan for the first time in September and I was able to find lots of info stating a single serving size ... in fact, there is even a full listing of examples available on these boards.

There was so much information, that I knew in advance we would be able to use snack credits at the Wine and Food Festival kiosks!! Talk about a deal! Even on the $6 and $7 items.

I guess you just have to research for recent info before leaving for WDW. As we all know, things are always subject to change -- especially from year-to-year.

Sorry you ended up using so many credits on big lollipops. Even though multiple serving items are no longer allowed as a snack credit there are still lots of great things (other than lollipops) that you could've gotten with your snack credits.

I did use quite a few credits on the FW festival stuff. I also enjoyed a couple of delish Dole Whips. The main problem was that I found out about the single serving deal on my last full day there. I didn't have time to seek out better snacks to take home. There were no rice crispy bars at ASMusic (OK - so I didn't think to go to the food court and look... my bad - even so, I don't think I'd have wanted 16 rice crispy treats either and fresh fruit wouldn't travel well etc.)

FWIW, I did look at the sticky before my trip and it didn't say anything about multiple serving items no longer being allowed. I sent the OP of that thread the suggestion that it would be helpful to include that information in the first post. It may have been mentioned further into the thread, but I didn't have the time to sit there and read every single page.

I've added a sentence to the OP that its single serve only for 2008 to avoid any further confusion.

Thanks for doing that. It might help someone else like me who missed the announcement last January... ;)

BTW - I'm on day 4 of that giant jaw breaker lollypop... Glad I only picked up 2 of those. They're tedious... :lmao:

Although in the past multi-serving items were allowed, it was never the intent of the dining plan. Even my 2007 book had a note about snacks were for single serving items. Disney just fixed the problem (or abuse) for 2008.
