We will be arriving next week (YAY!) from the cold and icy Midwest and won't be renting a car. There will be three of us with our luggage, of course. What are the prices for the taxis/shuttles, etc. and what do you think the best option is for around 1 P.M. on a weekday? Last year we just exited airport and got a taxi(there were 4 of us then) and I seem to recall asking for a certain rate so they wouldn't charge extra? Was it called a flat rate? Wasn't sure if a shuttle would be comparable? Thanks!

I've taken Super Shuttle and depending on what airport you are flying into it can be a decent rate. I've flown into John Wayne/Santa Ana/Orange County airport and it was $11 per person. We're flying into Long Beach for our next trip and the shuttle rate was higher, $35 for the first person and $9 per person after that.

I did take a taxi once from John Wayne as well, and I think it was around $45.

Taxi is usually the best way for me to get from the airport to DLR area when not renting a car.

Flat Rate for SNA to DLR is around $35 to $40.

I prefer not to mess with a shuttle, they generally have too many stops before reaching mine.

We just returned from a trip last week. We flew into LGB. Flat Rate from airport to DLH was $45. Posted right in the taxi.
The bell desk had a blue voucher with the flat rates to different airports.
The Flat Rate from the DLH to LGB was $50. Not sure why it costs more to go back to the airport.

I'm staying at the Tropicana too! Just a quick trip with my mom, arriving this Saturday and heading home on Monday. Have you seen the weather? It's going to be HOT, so bring your swimsuits!!!
With 4 people I would definitely take a taxi, since by the time you add up the cost of the shuttle x 4, it's the same price. Plus, the taxi will take you straight there instead of stopping at multiple hotels to let people off.
Definitely ask for the flat rate. Have a wonderful trip!

We use the Execucar service from Super Shuttle when we fly to SNA. They have a small van or town car for us and it is a dedicated service so no annoying stops. I generally receive a text that our car is waiting when we land and they meet us outside of baggage claim and we are off to the hotel. We've had the same driver on two separate trips and he was great. It's a flat rate of $132.16 round trip including tip. We've done this with 3 adult and 1 child and had no issue with room for luggage and a walker. This time it's just two adults and 1 child as grand mom elected to stay home with a bum hip...:( This service is one step below a "meet & greet" and costs a bit less too. I know you can get there for less, but we like this option.

Thanks for all the help everyone! We are three adults with probably 3 bags and carryons. Looking forward to hot weather since we haven't seen the grass here for over two months!

We always use a taxi. They cost about $40 regardless of how many people you cram in and get you to the hotel faster than a shuttle.
