Does anyone have recommendations/thoughts on most economical transportation for 2 Adults and 4 Kids (ages 8, 6, 2, 2) to Disneyland from SNA?

Here is what I currently have:
Super Shuttle = $11x6 = $66 one way or $132 round trip (not including tips)
DL Express = $122 round trip (2 kids free with 2 paying adults) (do people tip??)
Taxi = $100 round trip?? (not including tips) Don't know if figures are correct, we will be staying at Residence Inn Anaheim Maingate.

It appears that Taxi or DL Express may be the way to go. I wasn't planning on renting a car at DL so if choosing Taxi we would need to bring carseats and a booster seat. We would also like to get some groceries but I'm thinking Von's Delivery. We are flying in on Sunday 11/1 around noon and flying out on Saturday 11/7 around 10:30am and spending Monday-Friday in the park.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Dk livery (Lanskys) is another option. It is private transportation probably in either a suburban or honda oddesay for your family size. It would be $155 roundtrip. For this price it is gratuity inclusive, carseats/boosters can be provided, water bottles upon arrival and one stop at a grocery store for 20 minutes.

I second using Lansky's. We used them in Aug and they were amazing! It was our first time using them since my parents were with us so we became a party of 6, in the past we've used Uber.

Third vote for Lansky's. They meet you at baggage claim, handle all your luggage, load all your luggage, and then take you directly to your hotel. No waiting for other passengers or stops at other hotels.

Don't you need car seats for Super Shuttle? We've used it a few times (with no kids) and it was a regular passenger van, which I believe by law still require car seats. Only buses do not require car seats.

We've used Lansky's twice. had one GREAT experience (Dec 2013) an one TERRIBLE experience (Nov 2014). The bad experience was due to the driver not having any clue how to properly install the car seats AND the car seats provided were expired, and there was question whether the car seat provided for my then-3-year-old was even legal for her to be in. When I contacted Lansky's after our trip to the hotel, they assured me that the problems would be rectified for our trip back to the airport. They were not. Same driver, still unable to properly install the seats (and at the airport was when I checked the exp dates since they looked "old" and found them out of date). I contacted the company again and they had no clue that car seats expired. This alone disgusted me. A private car service that is targeting families in their advertising by touting they provide car seats & boosters should be educated in the proper use of them - both in regulations as well as proper installation. Due to this awful experience which put my children's safety at risk I will not use their services again until my kids are older.

For the record, our 2013 trip I believe we had the owner as our driver and the car seat was installed (by him without assistance from us) correctly. We loved our experience that trip. But the negatives of the following trip were too severe for me to put my children's safety at risk. We will be driving our next trip.

Another option is using Lyft or Uber, but you need to bring your car seats for those services too.

I would totally recommend doing grocery delivery. Just note, that when we attempted delivery back in 2010, Von's wouldn't deliver unless we were there to accept the delivery (no alcohol was in the order).

We used Lansky's in Feb 2015 - we brought our own car seats but there was only 1 car seat in the car for my then 2 and 3yos, and no booster for my 6yo. The car seat provided was a Safety 1st 3 in 1, which has low top slots and is outgrown forward facing early due to that. My 3yo has a long torso and had already outgrown it by that point. It was a non issue for us because we brought our own seats, but just wanted to give a bit more info to add to your comment.

Other than that, we did like Lansky's. I would bring my own car seats again if I used them though.

I should have added (to be fair) that the owner said he went right out and bought new car seats, but I still don't trust them! If our drive this year goes bad & we decide to return next year and fly, I'm going to have to convince my husband to bring the car seats onto the plane. I know we have 1 that is rated by FAA flights, not sure about the other.

There's only 3 car seats not FAA approved, the Combi Zeus, the Graco SmartSeat and the Safety 1st/IMMI Go Hybrid so you should be fine. I personally love the Scenara Next and the Evenflo Titan65/ SureRide for travelling since they are super light (the first is better for rearfacing kids under 40 lbs/40", the second better for both but it doesn't rearface quite as well on planes, so I tend to recommend the Scenara for younger kids and the Evenflo for 2+ year olds).

You will need the car seats for Super Shuttle, as well as for taxi/Uber/Lyft/rental car.

We used the Disneyland Express by Gray Line specifically so we wouldn't have to lug the car seat for my DD. It's not as convenient in terms of departure times (I think it only leaves twice an hour), but it was when she was in a huge seat that I didn't want to lug through the airport. With 3 seats, it might be worth the having to wait a bit not to have to carry three seats in addition to your luggage.

For me, relying on a rental car seat was not an option. I'm paranoid like that, though.

I don't know if that's helpful, but it was our experience.

Use the Disney bus :) It's WAY cheaper. Your 2yos are free because they are under 3, the olders are free because you are both paying adults. Use the code AOC for $10 off total. Should be $60 roundtrip.

Thank you KJ. It's interesting when you go to book online for DE it doesn't say anything about children under 3 are free, even in the FAQ. It only says, "1 child under 11 free for paying adult". I finally found it in small writing when I clicked on the brochure link. Hopefully the brochure is still up to date.

Couple more questions: Does the DE accept strollers (we will have 2 sit to stands)? It appears the DE will arrive at our hotel at 7:13 and 9:13 am for departure. Would the 9:13 pick up be cutting it too close with a flight that departs SNA at 10:55 (last stop on this route is at 9:30)? The site advises arriving at airport 2 hours prior to flight which seems a little excessive to me.

Thank you

Yes, we bring our double Mountain Buggy (if you aren't familiar, it's pretty big) and it's not an issue. SNA is pretty close so I don't think it would be a problem at that time, though with kids, I'd be a bit cautious. That's putting you at the airport around 10, meaning you have less than an hour to get through security and on the plane (they usually board about a half hour before departure).

Unless they have changed how they do it, I'd go for the 7:13 pick up time. I didn't see what hotel you are staying at, but after they do the hotel runs, they end up back at DLH to separate busses/luggage into LAX and SNA routes. Depending on the number of people and amount of luggage, that can take 5 minutes or (my longest wait) 40 minutes. That 40 minute wait made me get to the airport much closer to flight time than I would have preferred!

Full disclosure: I haven't ridden with them for 2.5 years now, as I witnessed them charging different people different rates (i.e., multiple 2-person groups were being charged different amounts from what was on their website), and had to pull up their website to get them to charge people the same price. We just do a taxi now, but we don't have a large family we are taking normally (just DD, DH, and myself most often).

Some of the taxi's are mini vans so they could accommodate all of you and they only cost about $40 each way for the whole gang.
