Man, I've had this horrible hankerin' lately for smoothies, but they are SO EXPENSIVE! It's about $5 a smoothie at Smoothie Planet and $3.50 for one at Baskin Robbins. I finally got my own stuff (yogurt, strawberries, blackberries, bananas) from Publix tonight and made my own. Mine taste better, are MUCH CHEAPER, and I can make a lot of smoothies with the stuff I bought.

Mmm...smoothies :)

Sorry, had to say something about it! :)

Ooooh, I love smoothies too.

Hello! I just bought a smoothie maker TODAY and made my first smoothie ever.

It was a Chocolate one with bananas. It was good.

The best part about a smoothie is that they're better than ice cream :) They're not so fattening. I made my bf go on a mile long walk tonight, so he deserved a treat :)

I love smoothies. I've been wanted to buy a smoothie machine but I thought $40 was a little pricey since I don't know how much we'll use it.

Kohl's has one in their ad for $19.99. Looks like a shopping trip!:teeth:

Isn't a smoothie maker also known as a blender?

Those suckers really are expensive, and people at work always have them, which makes me want them. It's funny how our $8 an hour college kids can afford to buy them every day when I can't.

We make smoothies here all the time and just use our blender. My kids love them and don't even realise they are fairly good for them too... much better then the other junk they lke to eat.

Favorite smoothie recipe

10 oz fruit juice
8 oz container of yogurt
1 frozen bannana (peel and slice before freezing)
1 cup of berries or other fruit.

I don't have a fancy smoothie maker, my blender works great for this. Frozen fruit is the key. Be sure to blend 1/3 of the juice with the yogurt first, then slowly add the frozen fruit. If it gets "stuck" slowly add the rest of the juice. If the fruit does not get stuck, add the rest of the juice anyway. If you run out of juice, add some water. Depending on your tastes and the sweetness of the fruit, you may like to add a bit of honey or sugar. I have added vitamin C and ginseng as well. Careful with these additives, they can make your smoothie bitter.

I love homemade smoothies, but really can't stand those smoothies they sell in the stores. Especially the V-8 Smoothies. They just taste watery and blah.

Blenders are perfect for smoothies. No fancy machine required.:D

I bought DH a smoothie machine for Christmas and it was the best present he could of recieved....uses it every day. His favorite recipe, one can of pears with juice(or syrup) and 10-12 frozen strawberries. If he is feeling spunky he adds a few scoops of Gadiva dark chocolate ice cream.

I used to make smoothies for myself all the time until we got rid of our old blender. My favorite was with orange juice, fresh pineapple and bananas. Now when I want one I go to the Smoothie King right down the street from me. My favorite is Caribbean Way. It has papaya, banana and strawberry in it.

I never thought of freezing my fruit, but I will now. DD-7 loves her smoothies (with a little flaxseed oil inside);)

yummmm.....makes... me... think of Mango Bash Smoothie at the GF!!!!!

Oh, how I wish I had one right now!!:earsgirl:

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

man they do sound good!!!! we have these bags of frozen fruit at work that come with a packet of smootie mix and you just throw them into the blender and they are sooo awesome. they are cheap too only like $1.50 per bag and make up to three smoothies. i wish i had one right now.......:teeth:

I have a fruit smoothie for breakfast every morning. I use organic yogurt, frozen mixed berries and some carrot/apple/pineapple juice. I just use my blender.
