Smoother Milder version or Rougher Intense version

With the recent Space Mountain rumor mill spinning, I thought this would be a good time ask how people would react to a possible change in the nature of the ride.

If you've had the opportunity to ride both version of Space Mountain, (DL vs.. WDW) you might has noticed a difference in the two.

DL (the newer version) has a much smoother feel and is faster than its counterpart in Orlando.

WDW is a much rougher ride and while slower, it has more drops and sharp turns.

So, I think the question regarding a possible rehab to SM in WDW is would you like faster, smoother but milder? In all actuality that's what we would getting IF we copied what DL has.

Or is it better to keep it the way it is and just have to deal with the roughness of the ride? More drops, shape sudden turns...but kind of slow.

I love the DL version! However, I don't think I would call it "milder". I don't equate roughness with intensity, I guess. I just think it's an overall better ride.

I understand you point but I would say all DL has thats different from WDW is the speed of the ride. I don't think there are any drops (correct me if I'm wrong) and the turns are not as sudden or sharp as WDW.

I think the speed of the coaster gives it some intensity but thats it. Don't get me wrong, its still an amazing ride. However, there are parts in SM in WDW where you leave your seat and get some airtime!

I'm just interested in reading what everyone else has to say

I have ridden both and I have to say that I like Space Mountain at Disneyland! It is really cool!!!:cool1: However, I do have to say that the best ride that I have ever had has been on the Alpha track of Space Mountain at WDW when the lights were on. That was the scariest ever!!!

Love love love SM at DL!

WDW SM is a wild mouse coaster, with sharp sudden directional turns. DL is more of a regular coaster, with milder/faster banks.

I would like to see the DL version come to WDW, it is smooth, fast, and fun.

Right! Because you see the trusses and it looks like you are really close! Make you not want to ever raise your hands up!

I have long hoped the WDW Space Mountain would be rehabbed to be like DL's Space Mountain. It's so much better there!

I for one would love a smoother ride. Last time I was on SM I felt like I got mild whiplash. Sounds like the DL SM is much better.

I've never ridden SM at WDW because my daughter says it has drops and I don't like rides with drops in them. Last year when we went to Disneyland she told me I should ride it because it didn't have any big drops. I trusted her because she knows what I like. Sure enough I rode it and loved it. So I hope they rebuild SM in WDW to match the one in Disneyland. I would ride it over and over.

I'm the EXACT same way! I hate drops but DS talked me into going on SM at DLR and I loved it! Even rode it by myself while he and DH went on Splash Mountain.

We're leaving in two weeks for WDW and there's no way I'll be going on SM at MK! Too much of a chicken!

I vote for neither! I want the Disneyland Paris version:thumbsup2

I agree!! That cannon shot at the start is really something!! Although with the rains in FL, maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. When I visited DLP it began to snow shortly after I rode the ride, and it got closed because the tracks could get wet (and slippery).

Nevertheless, IT IS a wonderful attraction.

Regards,

Luis
