As a person who still needs to mask up I think it was only a matter of time before someone did something like this. I still wear masks in stores and would swear stack of bibles that at least once per outing someone somewhere DELIBERATELY coughs on me or at me in the store and cashiers sometimes cough on my stuff. You know how I know? I listen for coughing and notice when it is just once at me, and it is also tough to not notice when someone leans in to me to cough. It is absolutely insane how often this happens, every outing without fail & it is shocking that the people who do it are about 60+, they are absolutely bat^&(*

I do not care at all what other people do but if the imbeciles in front of microphones like Adam could stop encouraging this behavior that would be great because while there are lots of reasons people are high risk nearly everyone knows at least one person who has been on chemo whose immune system puts them at risk for all sorts of things. Maybe think of your loved ones as you go through life deliberately risking inflicting harm or maybe just worry about Karma or if you are a bible reading sort consider avoiding an old fashioned smiting or vengeance.

Used to like Adam back from MTV & with Dr Drew & now he is just another dirtbag, hope he is proud of himself putting a kid at risk. If you know someone is avoidant just give them the benefit of the doubt.

Well, don't rule out the problem that Howie Mandel is a germaphobic basket case as well, so it might be a little bit of her up bringing to panic about things like that. I understand the concern and I have had 5 Covid Vaccine shots and wore a mask in public through 2020, 2021 and most of 2022. However, at some point we all have to face the world again and understand that people got sick long before covid and the population built up immunities and survived. We are back pretty close to that point again.

I have every reason to be concerned as I am 75 years old have COPD and even some emphysema but I will not spend the rest of whatever life I have left afraid to be around other people. One has to decide if life is worth living if we must live in fear constantly. As far as Adam is concerned when he took the stand he took, my opinion of him disappeared and nothing he can say anymore holds any degree of legitimacy as far as I am concerned. I will make my own mind up and not let Adam have even a slight influence on me.

I don't necessarily agree with Howie's needless fears, but it is his life and if that's how we feels he needs to live it, so be it! That goes for his daughter as well, but I just think it is sad to be that afraid of everything to that degree. Wise concern and action is a smart thing. Going crazy and thinking that we know more then people that have spent their lives researching this stuff is what I consider ludicrous.

I found the article. I see where Adam said he was sick, but later on he apparently said he blew his nose before the podcast. Does that qualify as "sick"?

I do NOT see anywhere in the article about Adam encouraging the behavior of people intentionally coughing on those wearing masks (assuming that's what you're referring to).

I had to put a mask on to stop at my doctor's yesterday. Aside from that, I honestly don't remember the last time I wore a mask. I *HAVE* seen a number of people wearing them in public, but I haven't seen any kind of confrontation from anyone. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but I do wonder about the "at least once per outing... " claim.

Everything in my circle is back to the way it was prior. Everyone who is sick is doing the same as they did prior. Going to work and going to stores and other public venues. At work, they'll even announce it to you that they are sick.

Some folks don't have a choice as they get sick more often than others and we only have 3 days. Once being sick takes care of that. So, get sick during the holidays, everyone is coming to work sick in January since they would lose a week's worth of pay. If you don't work your first scheduled day before or after a holiday, you forfeit the holiday pay, which is 5 of them at Christmas time.

You can't get sick again if you are sick halfway through January for example. Take your 3 days off and now you have 11.5 months you can't take off for being sick.

the article is ACTUALLY about a woman who's kid had a bone marrow transplant. that means low functioning immune system. that means don't be a jerk to them; they are trying to protect the most vulnerable so they don't freaking die.

First, I had to Google Adam Carolla.

Then I found the Mediate article.

Sounds like Howie's daughter was already familiar with Adam and his take on masks, etc.

So knowing that she had a compromised child, why did she agree to be in studio when he would be there.

And in the video she isn't wearing a mask. Why if her child is vulnerable?

His reaction indicates that he had no idea about her situation.

I'd say that's the case with many people living 'normal' lives while others still need to mask.

I still keep my distance from people in public when I can. But, I haven't masked in a long time. And I've had a couple of surgeries in the last six months, but am not personally compromised.

I respect those that I see who mask and give them even greater distance. I was at church just a few hours ago and a handful of people were masked. I presume they or a loved one is compromised.

I do think that for most of the population, being exposed to a few germs is not a bad thing.

I saw Jacqulyn's reaction more emotional due to the son's condition and mom worry that goes with having a sick child and not so much masks.

I agree, this is about a woman who is trying to protect her child so his behavior was savage.

People use this topic as a way to launch their personal philosophies without a single brain cell devoted to other humans dealing with real life threatening situations. So many people have cancer and other things going on.

If a person is avoidant what is the sane and moral rationale for pushing against that?
