Smoking

DSis wants to be able to smoke on balcony or patio of her hotel room so won't stay at BWV with us because she'd have to go outside to a designated smoking area.

Any suggestions for places she and DBIL could stay, close to WDW?

We're planning a major family trip for January 2014 and really want them to be with us.

TIA!

She may have a hard time finding a hotel that has smoking rooms-many are all non smoking these days. We stayed in Bonnet Creek which is not a Disney resort but on Disney property and if I recall there was an ashtray outside on our balcony. That's not to say that the resort provided it, it could have been left there by the previous people staying there. We're not smokers so it wouldn't occur to me to ask. Good Luck, I hope you can find somewhere!

The Radisson Celebration still had smoking rooms when I stayed there last November. It's right off 192 very close to the I-4 interchange.

My mom smokes, I have booked her at the Hilton downtown in a patio room so she could smoke outside and then bonnet creek also allows smoking on the balcony

I am a non smoker so I usually get her a separate room because I like to also use the balconies at bonnet :). The extra cost if the room is just built into our trips so everyone enjoys themselves.

HGVC also allows smoking on the balcony. I have not found anywhere that allows smoking in the rooms but I am good with there being a patio/balcony for her to go outside to.

Thanks, y'all, this is helpful. Smoking on the balcony would be fine with her. She just doesn't want to have to get dressed (beyond a robe or housecoat) and walk some distance from her room in order to smoke!

Most of the timeshare type places allow smoking on the balcony or the patio. I thought DH would hate our DVC stays because of the smoking areas, but he made friends and had interesting conversations every time he visited. He was always coming back telling me about the people he met. Early in the morning or late at night, going in PJs seemed to be the norm. He sleeps in sweat pants and a t-shirt, so nothing skimpy. When we stayed at the Marriott Custom House in Boston, he knew every valet by name by the end of the week from his smoke breaks.

Hi,

I’m not sure if the policy will change by January 2014, but if she is interested in staying on Disney property, you are currently allowed to smoke on the porches at the cabins at Fort Wilderness.

Our family really enjoys the additional space the cabins provide.

Enjoy your trip.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek. While it's not a Disney resort, it's inside of the WDW gates and right next door to the CBR! I too am a smoker and was surprised to see that smoking was allowed on our balcony.

If they're interested in the resort have them go through a website like Vacation Upgrades. The savings between that website and rack rate is incredible.

Wyndham Cypress Palms does not allow smoking on the balcony or patio. Found this out last April. The friend with me is a smoker and we have stayed there many times. This must be a new policy. There are smoking sections. She still smoked on the patio. She didn't bother anyone because the patio does not connect to anyone's patio.

We always rent a condo at Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms because my husband smokes and wants to be able to get up in the morning and have his coffee with a cigarette on the balcony. Every condo we have stayed in is the same....no smoking in the condo but ash tray provided for the balcony.
The time it takes to get to the parks in your car is faster than taking the bus from a Disney resort.
