I know some people might smoke on here, so dont get offended, but I HATE cigarette smoke. It makes me so sick. The smell makes me want to puke, and if Im around it too long I get a really bad headache. My son has asthma, and my DH is just like me. That being said, in WA, and CA we can no longer smoke in public places. Is this true for WDW? Im concerned about outside dining, and in and around the parks.

Thanks

Nope, you can smoke outside. In the parks, there are designated smoking areas. Sbella

There are smoking areas at all of the Disney parks. We just returned & I saw more people smoking openly than I ever have since the creation of the smoking areas.

Restaurants are totally non-smoking, but I did see people smoking in some of the outdoor eating areas....(Liberty Inn & the food area near R&RC at MGM)

The smoking areas are shown on the guide maps so you can steer clear of them.

I can smell smoke if it is coming from the car in front of me going 75 MPH. My husband is the same way. We've just never smoked and don't like the smell either.

But we've never really been bothered by it at Disney World. There's no smoking inside and if you have an outside experience with it, just move. We wanted a nice sit down while waiting for our FastPass window for Twilight Zone. Thought we had a good spot and then realized it was a smoking area. We just moved over to another area.

There will be people who don't care where the designated areas are. But they are usually so focused on getting to where they are going, it's a passing thing.

Guests have recently been more openly ignoring the smoking areas (outdoor). All indoor areas are non-smoking. Perhaps it's time for WDW to give a little more publicity to the smoking policy. FWIW, I have no problem pointing out to a smoker that there are designated smoking areas and "this isn't one of them."

I smoke, I don't smoke inside at home and haven't for many years, my DH does not smoke, never has and never will. He of course would like me to quit, which is a totally different subject.

When at WDW I do smoke in designated areas only and nowhere else, when we go out to eat here at home, we always get non-smoking. I don't smoke in the car either.

This is my bad habit of too many years to acknowledge, not anyone elses ;)

hehehe, I'm a 20 year smoker of the same habits (not inside, stick to places where it won't bother people) who just decided to quit this week. I hear where you're coming from!

To the OP, granted my nose wasn't the best, but i never smelled smoke while eating outside, and if anyone did light up in an outdoor dining area the CM's put the nix to it quick.

Thanks! To those who smoke, thanks for smoking in only those areas! I dont care if people smoke, but what I hate is when I am waiting in line for Small World and there is someone smoking in line and the CM doesnt make them leave the line! Yes it happened before, and it was in DL. I finally moved way out of line but it kept drifting back. It can really ruin a day when you feel so sick..like when you get off a ride that turns your stomach upside down!

Best Wishes on stopping smoking! I highly encourage it! My DHs grandma smoked for 30 years and quit! You can do it too! :cheer2:

What everyone has said about no smoking indoors and only in designated areas is true. And it's also true that it seems like more and more people are ignoring said rules and go puffing away in non-smoking areas. Which is a major problem for me, seeing as a mere whiff of smoke makes me gag for a good five minutes. :sad2:

Anywho, just wanted to also throw out there that you will not have a problem in any restaurant in FL; all of them are required by law to be non-smoking. So no need to worry about asking for a non-smoking table. I think the only places allowed to have smoking sections are places that make a majority of their $$$ from the bar/what's served at the bar.

On our trip a couple of weeks ago we noticed a lot of people in the parks ignoring the designated smoking areas. They would just stop on a bench any ol' where and light up. I would pull out my map and say, "Man, I feel like a cigarette! Oh, look, there's a smoking area over there behind France!" or something like that. I don't smoke, but it was my not-so-subtle way of saying, "Hey, people, you can't smoke here!"

Actually, though, we did have a group of people come up to us and ask if they could borrow our map to find a smoking area. It was completely random; we weren't using our "you can't smoke here" tactic. So some people do still care about using the smoking areas. :sunny:
