smoking on the balconies

I do think hotels should have DEDICATED non-smoking rooms and I believe the idea of cohorting smokers and non-smokers to their own areas is an idea whose time has come. I am not bothered by smoke as some here are but it sure would be nice if a non-smoker could get a room that was clean from smoke(meaning not smoked in at all) for medical reasons. When people say that the world will all be smoke-free someday so non-smokers should get used to it, I'm not so sure. Obesity, alcoholism and other habits that cause our taxpayers many dollars are not going away quickly and I'm not sure I have the right to say "my way or the highway" regardless of my strong convictions. There must be some way to come together on this issue without having the riots this topic always incites on these boards. Threehearts

Notice everyone is saying request a non-smoking/smoking ROOM? That is all you are paying for. There are no laws in the state of Florida about smoking outside. If someone comes out on to their balcony and you are already outside smoking, they can wait until you are done if they don't like the odor. ::yes::

The only reason this is a hot topic is because some people want to infringe on the rights of others all the while whining about their rights. :rolleyes1

There are desiganted smoking areas in the parks only. The only thing designated non-smoking at the resorts are public indoor areas and ROOMs. Not areas, not balconies and not buildings. ::yes::

Being polite and considerate applies to everyone. Smoker vs. Non-smoker, Cusser vs. Non-cusser, deodorant wearer vs. Non-deodorant wearer, cell phone users, stroller users, backpack users, people screaming, and hardly dressed out of shape people. Just keep in mind that everyone wants to see and hear you about as much as you want to them. ;)

FYI - my DS shouldn't be around smoke and we don't smoke but it's not my world, I only live in it! :teeth:

What is a "hardly dressed out of shape person" and how is that offensive?

I think that's a topic for a totally new thread.

My point was that we should all be considerate as well as tolerant of one another.

I don't believe I called anyone or any group of people offensive. :D

I still don't understand your comment, did you mean "barely dressed instead of hardly dressed" and would it be ok for them to be "barely dressed if they were in shape"?

True you did not say any group of people were offensive you were comparing being considerate and polite and I am just confused as to how your last comment fits that category of polite and considerate or not polite and not considerate?

Where did I say I found any of those listed groups of people offensive? I was listing hot topics. I did not mention every group and sub group there is.

To answer your specific question, I do not personally care for half dressed ANYONE at a theme park. Everyone is hot but not all of us are near naked. I am sick of seeing people's underwear, Sammie. Fat, skinny, ugly, attractive, young, old, whatever. But again, I was not listing things that annoyed me, but simply things that tended to spark debate on these boards. All I did was mention that topic and look what happened. Again, my point was we all need to be considerate and tolerant, in my opinion of course. :D

I booked my room at the Poly back in Jan. I requested a smoking building (Nuie to be exact). I have modified my ressie several times. Each time I get a confirmation it states on it guaranteed smoking. I do not plan on smoking in the room but on the balcony and even with that its usually only in the morning while I'm having my coffee. I try to be an extremely considerate smoker. I can go several hours without a cigarette. However, if I don't get a smoking room....that's going to be a problem. I don't mind going outside to have a cigarette, but who's to say people won't complain about that either. I WILL NOT go to the parking lot to smoke. I have my bounderies. If I pick a little spot out of the way to have my coffee and cigarettes in the morning I expect not to be bothered. There's only so much us smokers can do and as I said, I try to be extremely considerate but you can't always please everyone. Oh yeah, if smoking is allowed by the pool, I may have a cigarette with my pina colada too~!:teeth: ::yes::
