Smoking/Non Smoking rooms?? How bad is it?

I guess your right, there is a major difference when comparing Denmark with Florida.
I hope you will have a nice vacation in Denmark. :wizard:

Btw. take a look at my pictures from my ship, HDMS MOEEN.

Some of the pictures is from the last trip before the ship got scraped. Were used to have, what is called a steam past, when a exercise is over.

How about 2 guys dressed like a horse, or santa clause on the rear deck.

Here is the link:

At some point in time, a master sargeant told me, that our senior officer in the past was a heavy smoker (smoking cigars), and he had been fat too (nothing wrong about that) because he realy liked food.
Like I said, Denmark, my Mom always said the ex-smokers are the worst! :teeth:

Hehe, maybe !! :rotfl:

Another storry from the ship!,

One day i was on a rutine check below decks, aft of one of the engine rooms. I was walking down aft, and to my left there were a large tank (size: about 2000 gallons). The tank was used for human remains from the toilets above (WC), and what did i see, the engineers had given it a name, VAGN. :rotfl:

Master sargeant VAGN, was not even popular below decks :rotfl2:

:earseek: Wow, what alot of replies! Thanks all for the insight into what you all have experienced.

I wondered what the smoking rooms were like since I have always requested and received non smoking.
I do not smoke but hubby works in a smoking environment and I have become much less sensative to the smell of smoke than I used to be. I don't think I could sleep in a strong stench though. I also should not subject my DD's to the smell if it can be helped.

That said, and given the % of smoking rooms available I will request my MK view first and then NS. Tinkerbell60, I would also like to know what floor is NS at CR.

Now I just need to wait 3 weeks until I make my ressie! :Pinkbounc

... on a second note: If there were fumes in the room prior to your arrival, why didnt you open the door/window in the room for a short period of time (20 - 30 minutes), then there would be no fumes left in the room.
:rotfl2: Only a smoker would say that! When you smoke, you don't realize how the smell of smoke permeates everything, especially fabrics. Leaving the door open for 20 minutes, or even 20 hours, will have absolutely no effect on *years* of cigarette smoke embedded in the curtains and carpets. We have a breakroom at work that used to be the smoking area. No one has smoked in there for more than 5 years. And air cleaners were in use while it was a smoking area, so there was never a thick cloud of smoke hanging in there. And yet you can *still* smell the old, stale cigarette smoke as soon as you walk into the room.

If the smell of smoke really bothers you, I suggest you avoid Illuminations. We smelled like gunpowder for three days last trip. Also, avoid the campfire at Fort Wilderness. Very smoky.

We were put in building 25 at OKW. While we were waiting for our room to be ready I was thumbing through my Passporter and lo and behold there's a smoking symbol next to that building! I freak out and call the front desk back and say, hey, why'd you put us in a smoking building? She says that building 25 isn't a smoking building and we'd be fine.

I grumble to myself about not having just fallen off the turnip truck but at this point we've been waiting a looooooong time for our room anyway, so what the hey, we try it. So we get to room 2515 and you could really tell that they just seriously cleaned that room! The carpet was still a bit damp and it had that strong soapy smell. We couldn't, however, smell cigarette residue.

So we were happy! There were a ton of cigarette butts on the ground outside the patio, however, so I'm pretty sure the CM I talked to was blowing smoke at me, no pun intended, when she said it wasn't a smoking building.

Don't even get me started on those cigarette butts all over the ground, either-do smokers think the magical butt fairy is going to come and pick those up for them?!!
