Smoking in Jellyrolls?

Just wondering if smoking is allowed in Jellyrolls, since it's primarily a bar and therefore could skate in under the FL law. Some friends want to go, but if smoking is allowing it ain't happening for me!

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be meeting them in Atlantic Dance Hall later...no Jellyrolls for me!

That's why I have never went in there have been dying to but I can never bring myself to going in and coming out smelling like smoke, Eewwww

I have been dying to try Jellyrolls but won't pay a cover charge to then go in and pay for drinks and secondhand smoke!

We are so spoiled. Our state has a no smoking ban on every indoor space including bars and restaurants. We forget how spoiled we are until we travel out of state and have to eat and drink with secondhand smoke!

I am probably going to get flamed for this but I really don't think it is *that* bad that in all of WDW there is ONE place that allows smoking. But, I would imagine that if attendance decreases due to the smoking policy, it will go non-smoking too. No, I am not a smoker. I don't enjoy secondhand smoke either, but I am sympathetic to those addicted.

I'm pretty sensitive to the smell of smoke. I was in Jellyrolls for 4+ hours one night while people around me were smoking.

Their ventilation system is one of the best I have ever experienced- for some reason I didn't smell it and when I left, my clothes didn't smell like smoke either. I didn't have that intense feeling I usually do that I have to shower right away.

We had a blast. I would highly suggest asking if you could walk in and see if the smoke would bother you before paying- it might be a non-issue.

I usually have a strong sense of smell and I have to say I have never found Jellyrolls to be really bad. Some times I havent smelled smoke at all. Other times I've gotten just a faint smell of it. It really depends on the crowd there that night. Also, Ive noticed there is usually less/none early in the night and it may pick up as the night goes on.

For all the fun I have had there it is well worth it. I just make sure I am not planning on rewearing any of the clothes I wear there. ;)

Does Atlantic Dance Hall have smoking???? IS this a good place for two couples to go for a couple of hours to have a drink or two and hang out....is it loud???

Last time I was at Atlantic Dance Hall (which was probably at least a year ago), it was non-smoking. That surprised me, since it's only a bar, with no food, so under FL law they could allow smoking.

Next time I'm at Boardwalk I'll ask and see if they'll let me poke my head in Jellyrolls. I have bad allergies so I am more sensitive than most to smoke. It's a luxury living in FL where smoking is banned almost everywhere except bars...I don't begrudge the smokers their bars, but I just don't want to be there too!

I am not sure about Atlantic Dance, but Disney might still own it.

Disney banned smoking in all properties it owned, including bars and clubs. Jellyrolls was not affected by that policy as it is not owned or run by Disney.

I agree. As a "social smoker", I can appreciate having a place where I can smoke when I'm drinking. But honestly, even though I do smoke sometimes, I can't stand being in smokey bars. I was in Vegas recently and boy is it smelly. So I think it is a fair compromise that there's one place left where you can smoke.
Oh and by the way, you'd be surprised how many people there are like me - people who aren't addicted to cigs, people who don't normally smoke, but who sometimes enjoy having a smoke when they're drinking. So we're not all addicts.

I agree with what others have said. We go to Jellyrolls quite often and the smoke rarely bothers me. I've have been at times however when it is heavy, but for the most part it has never been a problem...

Jellyrolls smells like an ashtray. We went once, it was early (not crowded at all), and we stayed less than an hour. I can't imagine how bad the smoke must be when the place is full.:crazy2:

Owned by Disney or not, there is a state wide law on which establishments can and cannot allow smoking.

It's not Disney's law but they have taken the stance that their establishments that could permit smoking do not do so. If you look at #3 and #4 under the "could permit smoking", Disney could allow smoking rooms and smoking on patios and balconies. But they choose not to.

Disney knew what the law was, but chose to ban smoking in all its establishments anyway.

The question was, could there be no smoking in Atlantic Dance (a bar) while Jellyrolls (another bar right next door) allows smoking?

If Disney owns Atlantic Dance, smoking would not be permitted there. They don't own Jellyrolls, and have no say over its smoking policy.

Believe it or not, after a few hours of Jellyrolls, my hair and clothes did NOT smell like smoke. They have a fantastic ventilation system. I was sitting next to somebody who was smoking, and I could hardly smell her cigarette.

I HATE smoke (ex-smoker here!) and it's what kept me out of Jellyrolls for years. I also think I am allergic to smoke, as my throat gets sore when I'm around cigarette smoking even for a very brief time. I was fine at Jellyrolls.

You get a blast of smoke when you go in the door (the ventilation must pump out right at the door!), but once you're in, it's not bad. I do wonder if they'd have more business if they banned smoking, though.

I firmly believe that's the reason that smoking was banned in all WDW restaurants long before FL ever passed its statewide smoking ban. It sounds good to say it's for health etc., but the truth is that restaurants in states were smoking is allowed are practically begging people to sit in the smoking section, where there are plenty of open tables, while waits for non can be an hour or two at peak times. Was the Mouse going to let all those empty tables sit there? I don't think so!
