Hi!

I have a reservation for a 2 bedroom savannah at Kindani in August. I am traveling with two of my sisters who both smoke. We have noted a request to be close to the smoking area for their convenience. I have stayed there before but never with anyone who smoked. Does anyone have experience with this request and how close you were placed? I know the hallways are LONG so I want to set realistic expectations for my sisters, but am hoping that this would be a priority request?

Thanks!

Check out the sticky at the top of the page and http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/index.htm#resortResort Maps

Thanks all! I had checkout out the map and noticed that both smoking areas were close to the lobby. This was part of my concern since I wasn't sure what the priority was since everyone requests close to lobby . . . I'm just hoping they won't have to walk a mile each time they want to go out.

I once had a room down on the Pembe Savannah and my uncle ordered a pizza. We had parked underground close to our room so I didn't realize how far the walk was. It was late, I was tired and the walk to the lobby seemed like forever.

We were at Kidani last year and the smoking area was down in the basement/garage area. Not sure if that has changed.

Why do you think this request should have priority over any other request?
Didn't say I thought it should, just asked about the experience of those who may have made the request.

We had a room at AKL that smelled like smoke once because the previous guests had smoked on the balcony and the curtains near the door had absorbed the smell. Since this is not allowed and they want folks to use the designated smoking areas and there are only 2, both in the center of the resort, I considered the thought that they may try to make it as convenient as possible for smokers to use the designated areas so they abide by the no smoking on the balcony rules.

This sounds like it to me

There are cameras on the savannas that aim towards the balconies to see what guests are doing that might harm or injure the animals.

Maybe this trip would be a good opportunity for them to quit cold turkey, wait...are you staying in the same suite? Never mind.

Thanks for the info. Our last room faced the parking lot so that makes sense.

I get what you're saying, but that's not their mindset - "let's make sure we put smokers near a smoking area so they're encouraged to use it."

Their "encouragement" to use the smoking area instead of the balcony is the multi-hundred-dollar per incident fines they levy when they catch people smoking on their balcony or in their room.

Of course, they'll do their best to fulfill your request for a room near the smoking area, just as they would any other request, so there's certainly a good chance that you'll get it. And if it's not as close as you'd like, you can always ask at the desk if there's anything closer available.

or should I say . I wish they would both quit, but with 5 girls ages 10-17 on the trip, I don’t think would be the right time. I think one might just sub wine for the cigarettes and then we’d really be in trouble.

I find this comment really rude. If you are organizing a family holiday you try to make this the best vacation possible for everyone on the trip and this is what the OP is trying to do. Why are you trying to impose your anti-smoker attitude on a genuine question about how one family member can help make life easier for his/her smoking relatives?

Hey, you are lucky Disney hasn't gone the way of many hotels out here where there is no smoking on property, period. A couple of them will even kick you out instantly if you are found smoking on their property, they will literally have hotel security go to your room while you pack and leave, oh and no refund either.

I personally wish more hotels would go this route, but that is me, who wishes all public spaces were smoke free.

That comment was clearly a joke... going cold turkey while sharing a room would probably not be pleasant ;)
