I spent a couple of hours "renovating" my MP3 playlist...and I couldn't believe it...just about every song came from some of my mom's CDs! I was thinking to myself..."I am SO living in the wrong generation!" CDs such as, well as the title suggests, The Motely Crue, Journey, Poison, Van Halen, Kiss, Guns N' Roses, and so much more...it's insane really. It also shocked me that my mom had these CDs! She is usually listening to singers like Il Divo and Barbara Streisand. It's weird how things sort of fall into place sometimes...I mean, these were bands I wanted, the rock bands I mean...and by chance my mom had them! I also added the singers such as Neil Diamond and Air Supply.

Music has always been my release and my realization that I don't belong in this time period! haha!

What sort of things jolted any kind of realization in you and what was that realization?

basically the same things. I'm on the same level of motley crue fan as my mom. and she lived through their hayday.

I think it's amazing that my mom kept that little detail from me! lol. I never knew she liked that music and it literally shocked me to see all those CDs. It started with Guns N' Roses and I figured, oh she must have liked "November Rain" for the music video (she mentioned liking it before) but whenever I saw the Kiss, Poison, Monster Ballads, and Def Leppard along with the Motely Crue, I was like...you have GOT to be kidding me!! I often wonder if I am my mom in another generation, heh.

Sorry, I wasn't implying that was their name, I was referring to the item, the CD...they just happened to be first in that list, heh, had I listed Journey first, it would have appeared as the Journey. lol. That stuff bugs me as well.

So am I. My music is almost always something my dad has listened to before. And for a short period of time last year, my friends and I were talking like we were from the 70s. We said things like "that's groovy," etc.​

Yeah, I'm the exact opposite. My parents hate what I listen to, and I hate what they listen to...

it makes for an awkward car ride.

A lot of what I listen to comes from my brother or my dad. My dad influences a lot of music. While most of it is kind of vintage (okay, yeah, I know you don't classify music as vintage) half the vinyl's and records he has are of nobodies.
With the exception of Billy Joel. Billy Joel OWNS.

I'm willing to agree with that simply because he wrote a few songs about pianos, heh...being the huge piano freak I am, I absolutely love how a lot of his songs are about writing music and playing the piano...very nice, really. I especially love his song, "Baby Grand". I love my baby grand almost as much as he does! heh!
