Smokers? What do you do?

So we can't take lighters in our carryon. Can we have them in our checked luggage? Can we bring matches? Is there a place at the airport or Disney to buy cheap lighters? I don't want to pay a lot if I'm going to have to throw it away. I saw that one site said something about safety matches, what are those? Thanks for your help.

Here is what I did. I saw the rules allows 4 books of matches. So that's what I brought. When I got close to running out, I asked for a couple of books at the resorts gift shops. I did not want to risk trouble by bringing a lighter with me. I did see a lot of people in the parks smoking spots w/lighters. Don't know if a lot of them drive there, or didnt care about the rules. A couple of times when I was running low on matches while I was at the parks, I bummed a light from whoever was there. Can be a pain but we don't have many choices.

I plan on bringing a couple of books of matches to use at my home airport(they have an indoor smoking area) and outside MCO while waiting on Magical Express, then buying a cheap lighter at my resort gift shop. They are only a couple of bucks. Then I will ditch the lighter when I arrive at Orlando airport for my return flight home.

It's been a long time since lighters were allowed in checked luggage, not because of terrorism but just because of safety (they weren't keen on the idea of flammable liquids in the cargo holds!). So take regular matches with you, up to 4 books of them. "Safety matches" means normal matches, the kind you have to strike against a certain surface, like the little stripe on the back of the book of matches. This is contrasted with what I've always called stage matches. These are made of wood and can be lit by scratching them against almost any surface. These, too, are considered too unsafe to have on an airplane.
